Angry 3 EDD's, All come and gone.

So the illustrious medical profession have given me three edd's; the 21st, 23rd and 25th June. Needless to say, these dates have all come and gone. And the Man thought I would go a week to ten days early, another friend thought a week early, and a couple of others thought at the end of last week.

    However, NOTHING!

Got some pretty good back pains yesterday, and have been having pains over a number of nights. Terrific I've been thinking. Something's happening! But no. Pains subside, nothing happens.

Dd was born two days 'late' I think, but there were definite happenings well beforehand. Ds, to be honest, I can't remember if he was late, but I know I wasn't getting frustrated like I am now.

I know babies come when they are ready, but I am Just. So. Over. It. Over the pg, being sick, and general life around here. I am a patient person, but am not waiting well now. I hate "just sitting around waiting". Grr.

The Man has finally got himself a job, YAY!, but it starts tonight at 10pm, so looks like I will now be on my own for the birth. I am feeling confident at the moment of being able to put my foot down for what I want, and more importantly, don't want during labour/birth, but at the event, it could be different. And he won't be there for the birth, which he was for the other two, and I know he wants to be.

    Just having a whinge really.

Oh, and my friend who's sister brought her a bassinet for us to use whilst not having a cot, FORGOT to bring the mattress for it.

Not long now. Hang in there. You can do it. We can be your personal cheer squad

ETA: Yay on the new job but bugger about him possibly not being there for the birth. Maybe he will be able to be there in the end.

I really loathe EDDs, or guess dates as I prefer to call them. Creates too much expectation and anxiety! They did a study and involved mothers, midwives and doctors, and asked them all to guess the EDD to see if anyone was specifically more gifted at working it out. No-one was a standout as being close. Only babies are!!! They know when they are due - trust those precious bundles to do whats best - and in the mean time, enjoy rubbing that gorgeous big belly and treat yourself to a massage or two. I know a fair few people who have gone into labour very soon after a great pregnancy massage, myself and Rouge included My friend was very talented at induction massage, but I think a huge part of it is letting go

Thanks everyone. And, I think I also have Mum's cold which she was kind enough to bring up from Melbourne and share with our family. :/

Kelly; I wish I had someone to give me a massage! Mentally, I am there, done and ready, so I guess just a little disappointed that bubs isn't playing ball. And, I don't want to be induced, cos I don't think I'm prepared for that. And its actually never been discussed during any of this pg's appointments, so don't know if I'm even meant to call the hospital by a certain date and say, look, still haven't had the baby, its not like I had it somewhere else, when do you want me to come in? Hopefully not.

Lol Kelly. I wouldn't need to tell him twice! Well, actually, I probably would, because he wouldn't believe it the first time! Unfortunately, its one of the furthest things I feel like doing! I do think though that I have figured out how people over eat, and eat for emotional reasons. I feel like I have nothing to do, aside from eat! And I'm waaay past nesting, so some "cleaning exercises" are also out of the question.

You're spot on there, many people do eat out of emotional issues, anxieties, boredom! When people say, I don't understand why people let themselves get so obese, I think, I do! Its just a different option from a pile of things like alcohol, smoking etc which provides a short term relief from your feelings but long term isn't good. But thats a whole other topic

What would make you feel great then, if you don't feel like a massage? Can you book yourself in to get your nails done, manicure and or pedicure? Have some beautiful colour for the birth - and its about the same or cheaper than a massage Anything else you can think of?

I would love a massage, but not sure I could afford it, and wouldn't want to try a new person for such an "important" massage, if you know what I mean. And I would feel guilty getting my nails done, one of those mother guilt issues.... I could paint my fingernails myself, but can't be bothered! Then think that if I did my nails, by the time baby comes, they will be chipped and awful anyway. Full of optimism aren't I!

Go oooooon! You deserve it! You have grown an entire little human inside you, you have nurtured and protected it for months and months, the least you can do for yourself is do something a little special to lift your spirits

Hmm. It seems that perhaps I am outnumbered on this. However, I am also far enough away that none of you can drag me out!
