-3 station?

Could anyone please explain this whole station thing to me? I'm totally confused. My notes say -3 station 4/5 lot. I understand the 4/5 lot but the station thing is new to me, it's never been written on there before?

Your pelvis is divided up into stations so we can assess that your baby is moving down into your pelvis. So -3 is up above your pelvic brim and then it goes down to spines and then into positives (this is usually during labour).

Does that make sense??
