I had my 31 week check with the midwife this week. She had a feel of my belly and couldnt work out the position of the baby. I have a scan booked at 34 weeks to check the placental site and she said if the baby hasnt turned by then, then I can book in to see a Dr at the hospital that specialises in manual turning of the baby (I cant remember the exact term used).
Is this necessary? I thought babies (especially subsequent ones) can be breech right up until labour starts, am I right?
I'm not sure, but mine is head up as well and the midwife isn't worried about it - still said there is plenty of time to move. Being my 3rd pregnancy - apparently there is lots of "room" in there to spare, so basically its just doing cartwheels in there. I don't think my midwife is going to start stressing until it hits my due date really.
Hi Ubba
First there is still time for your baby to turn. Second It would be more appropriate to wait until you are past 37 weeks before you let the doctor try to turn your baby (External Cephalic Version. ECV). The reason I say this is that there are a couple of potential problems that can be caused by ECV that would mean your baby being born early. There is a small chance that your placenta could be partially dislodged which would mean an emergency CS. There is also a chance that ECV may start labour.
Hun, my friends twins were switching head to toe positions right up til birth & turned at 36 weeks so they were both head down. They were born at 37 weeks
You could try getting down & scrubbing the floors & see if it helps
My third baby was also breech. They were unable to offer me an ECV at 36 - 37 weeks (which my midwife told me was the common time to do them) due to the position and size of my baby. I went into labour naturally without my baby turning and had to have an emergency c-section.
There are lots of websites on the internet with info on things you can try to get your baby to turn. There is also lots of info on ECVs and their benefits and risks. I think spinningbabies.com was one recommended to me by a few people with tips on things you can try.
I hope your baby turns. Good luck with everything.
