Hi all,
just wanted some advice from those further along the pregnancy journey....any advice on the best shoes/shoe brand to buy when pregnant??? I spent my last pregnancy in cheap thongs and crappy shoes, needless to say it did not help my body cope with all the extra weight and stuff! but i havent shoe shopped in years...other than cheapie pairs from payless or target! any and all advice really appreciated
TBH I didn't buy any "special" shoes for my pregnancy - I just wore my comfortable everyday shoes which are just brown hiking boots (redback brand) I have flat broad feet and have found these done up loosely have been very comfortable - same with my runners.
I don't wear anything around the house and only ever wear my gumboots outside (I love on a farm and am paranoid about snakes) . I am currently trying to break in some new moccasins but they do cause my right foot to swell so I limit this.
Maybe look into some of those ones like you get in the chemist (like the older lady shoes) they are designed for comfort?
depends on your feet! while PG with DS the only shoes I could wear towards the end were a mens size 10 pair of cheap crocs, blerghh! This was due to how swollen my feet were, I am usually a ladies size 8.
I couldnt wear anything with a heel, unless it was a big platform, too much pain in the pelvic area.
Good luck, I hope you can find something comfortable.

i went for safety and comfort
(took me five years to conceive)
(i had back pain and sciatica in pregnancy)
so for SAFETY
- no thongs (i didn't want to risk twisting my ankle in shoes with poor support)
- no mules
- no heels
- no slippery sole, you need some grip.
for comfort
- i have a wide foot, so got a wide fitting shoe with comfy bits in the inside
- no narrow straps to cut into the feet
- velcro adjustable straps to make the fit bigger as the pregnancy progressed. allow for swollen feet.
Hi I have a pair of Colorado thongy things that look like Birkenstocks and have good support and velcro on the top so you can adjust depending on your feet. Havent been able to wear anything else except thongs lol Good luck
Get yourself to a Nana shoe shop, stat! I couldn't have lived without my pair of sandals when I was pregnant. I couldn't wear any other shoe and even now I love my nana shop shoes!
Hi i say just go and buy whatever is comfortable at the time...definately a nana shoe shop cause they have a wide range and some not bad at all, (and fit you) I always wear a slight wedge heel, I find flats give my feet grief.
i usualy live in thongs too and wondered why my back and feet where always sore??
so off to athletes foot i went and got myself some schol (SP?) thongs they have arch support and being thong style my big fat feet still fit in them.
I usualy kick my thongs off as soon as i walk in the door but now i find myself walking around the house in them because they are so damn comfy.
they are $89 which for thongs is dear i think but they are so worth it in my opinion
