This is probably a silly question, but I was just wondering what happens re amniotic fluid in a planned caesarian? Is the fluid drained prior to the procedure, or does this just occur when the incision is made? Just wondering as in my last experience my waters had gone completely before I got to hossy and then I had an emergency caesarian.
When they first make the incision some of it comes out but they quickly jump in and suction the rest.
I think.
When I had mine it was an emergency and mine were already gone during labour too.
^ Whoa!
Sophie was the name I wanted for Emily but DH liked Emily more. So it was on my list of names for Toby as well.
We must have the same taste in names!
When I had my c/s 2 years ago they made the cut then suctioned the amniotic fluid out, it sounds like a vaccuum cleaner, I knew what it was as I had been to antenatal classes and as soon as I heard that noise I remember thinking OMG they`ve made the cut, now sucking the fluid out, bubs will be here very soon, which he was.
Thanks girls; I am going to an ante-natal c-section class soon but preferred to ask a couple of things on this non-intimidating forum first! So tell me, do they get you to fast before the operation?
