I had my 36 weeks appt yesterday and the Doctor said my bub is weighing around 2.99kg. My first DD weighed 4.035 kg at birth. Does this sound normal/healthy? How accurate are these measurements?
I read in my baby book (What to Expect... blah blah) that in the 30s weeks bubs puts on about 200gr a week, so you sound spot on with your weight ie 3kg now + 800 gr over the next month equals birth weight!
I've been doing a lot of research on this as I'm worried about having a whopper baby again... basically all the estimates are more like quesstimates. Ultrasounds late in pregnancy as predictors of birthweight can be out by half a kilo! The best way to gauge the size of your baby is to compare how you're carrying to the previous time you were pregnant. Do you feel as big? Do you look as big?
Does your head in if you think about it too much though doesn't it?
The other night I convinced myself I was going to give birth to a toddler, so I just had to stop thinking about it and go and do something completely distracting!
