Baby engaged- will it be early????

hi all, am 38 weeks and just had my check up, my measurement has gone down 2cm! because baby is engaged at -3 station, is this normal and i was wondering if anyone knew what the typical time frame would be from being engaged until labour.. does it mean the baby will be born soon or does it make no difference at all??

hiya... I've been told by my midwives over my 3 pregnancies that it's normal for the 1st one to engage early on. So you probably have a lil while to go..

but with the 2nd and consequent pregnancies, they tend not to drop until the last moment.. like.. my number 3 didn't drop at all. I was 8cm and bub was still not pressing on my cervix, but was quite a way back.

sure it's not what you want to hear.. but hang in there..

Babies can engage, then come free again.
-3 I think means they are more than half way, but not quite 100% engaged.
They are all different. My DD1 was engaged 4/5 at 36 weeks, but wasn't born til 41+1.
    DD2 & DS didn't engage til labour.

Some babies engage several weeks before they are born.
