Hey Danielle

I don't have a baby with this problem, but as a paediatric nurse I often see it. It is usually more diagnostic to have the ultrasound done once the baby is born, simply because it is easier to do, if you know what I mean. Having said that, I think that its a great thing you are getting another scan done before bub is born so that if there are any problems it can be managed sooner.

The other midwives are right, these things normally resolve themselves within a few months to years after bub is born. He/she may have issues with things like urinary refux (making them more prone to UTIs, etc) or some other kidney issues, but it will be easier to diagnose when bub is born. They will be looking at bubs urine output, etc to make sure everything is working ok.

Hope that helps to answer your questions, let me know if I can be of any more help (I used to work in a paediatric renal ward so have a little bit of knowledge up my sleeve in this area).
