What a relief to find this thread! My DS was 8lb 9ozs and I was told at my 28 week scan that DD was already 1.6kgs and would be born AT LEAST 9lbs. I wasn't phased by that until I was told they would book me for another scan at 34 weeks to ensure I wouldn't have any problems giving birth naturally.
I had a size scan 3 days before Jake was born and they said 6lb 6oz, and he was born 6lb 5oz so damn close!
I also believe your body doesn't produce a baby you can't birth, I am tiny and Jake didn't grow at all in the last 3 weeks according to my ob appointments, my doc said he'd run out of room to grow cause i couldn't stretch anymore!!
they said mine at 30 weeks were 1402grams and 1800grams and they were born 2 days later at those exact weights- the u/s woman was absoultely spot on. How freaky was that- but then again, she had to be as it was the reason that i had to had them early as twin 1 had IUGR and minimal chord flow. Mind you she was a highly trained ultrasound specialists.
Our Ob needs a swift kick up the A-hole honey!!!!!
Tell him what you WANT. maybe ask if you can cut of the end of his woo hoo while your at it! Really babe if you want natural and you have never had a baby or complications before (small or not) then what is stopping you?
Being able to bring a baby into this world is what us woman were ment to do...ok some of us have trouble and then need a c/s but if you havent even tried to naturally birth your baby then why opt for a c/s?
Make a birth plan...sit down and write down what you and your DH would like your baby to be born and if all else fails and there are difficulties cross that bridge when you get to it.
As for baby size......I got told Vyolett would be 11pound and she was 7pound 2 oz.
At about 37 wks they were concerened because they thought he was going to be on the big side of things - hmmm, I dont think 2 wks later at just over 6lb is big!!
I think they get it wrong alot!!
Also, going on size of you, not just bub, I have one friend that comes to mind. Not real big girl, but she pushed out without intervention a boy well over 10.5lb (cant remember exact weight but it was over that - he was huge!). And it didnt put her off having more!!
I remember another friend saying when we found out how big he was " but ____ is quite small!!" ...she was fine!
