I'm posting this on behalf of my sister who has been having off and on contractions for over a week and since yesterday they got fairly regualr, at one point they got to 2-3mins apart, but once we got to the hospital they went back to 5-6mins and she was still only 1cm.
She lost her plug overnight and has had regular pains ever since coming home, she is 2 days overdue and just can't get comfortable and can't really sleep.
Do u think she has a right to be induced due to her circumstances? The hospital were talking about it yesterday but only had 1 midwife on so couldn't do it. She is in a program called holding Hands so has selected midwifes that look after her...but she is at the point she doesn't care who it is...
Should her hubby call the hospital and ask for the inducement to happen? I really feel for her, its horrible seeing her in so much pain and shes just not dilating...
We have another hospital about 30mins away, we could possibly call them, just gotta hope they aren't busy.
I guess I'm just after some feedback and your opinions on this... She knows its going to hurt more if shes induced and is at the point of just bring it on!
Bub also has been posterior but we think he has moved during the night... Also so hard not knowing if shes dilating any further...
Thanks girls and look forward to reading your responses!
WHen she went in, they should of booked another appointment for today? ( if it was last night)
You can call them up but seeing she hasn't broke her waters yet they may hold off and also her body is doing it on it's own I.e the contractions and dilating..
I would say if she is in alot of pain go back in and get another examination or see if they can break her waters for her to see if the contractions kick in or if not then she will have grounds for induction..
I forgot to add that she did lose some sort of waters yesterday morning, but they seem to think it was her hindwaters but still couldn't see them... So have no idea... They did say if she loses more to come back in... I just wish things could start happening for her!
Is she wearing a pad? Tell her to wear one and I'd it fills up quickly then that's her waters..
I would probably ring them up and tell them she is quiet uncomfortable and can't ease the pain..
They should definently be having a follow up with her today.
With my dd I lost my plug and some waters and my contractions were crazy.. Definently not where they were meant to be, they told me that they would break my remaining waters and see if the contractions sped up and if not they would induce me.. Let's say once she broke them I had my dd not long after
Poor thing! I feel her pain! I was in early labour for two weeks, was admitted for one night and finally asked for a stretch and sweep which started my labour. 12 hours later ds3 was born. Get her to go back in and either get her waters broken or a stretch and sweep which should dilate her another cm or so and may verywell break her waters.
Her body is doing such a fantastic job of warming up for the big moment....... very tiring and trying but in the words of a wise BB woman....it's a marathon not a sprint race. She may find when bub and her body are ready that she dilates fairly quickly, all of this warm up is the best thing for her. I personally wouldn't want to be induced or have any intervention at this point, but I'm not in her body or headspace, so I can't give the answer for her. Her body certainly sounds on the right track though and doing what it needs to.
Is there anything that could be holding her back from really letting go? Talking about any fears or worries? I had 5 days of fairly consistent pre and early labour and it was exhausting, but on that 5th day, late that afternoon, things just geared up, I had a big emotional breakdown, faced my fears, and bub was in my arms not long after. Looking back I realise my body did an amazing job of preparing itself for the birth.
Hope all goes well, can't wait to hear her bub has arrived.
I hope it's really soon for her and with any luck she's already off to a great start and things will happen quickly once it does get going.
Sometimes there's a good reason why labour goes this way - especially if baby is in a bad position or something like that. Her body and baby may be working together to get things just right so it goes better for them both
