I have just typed up my birth plan to take to the Ob's with me. Can you have a look and let me know if I've forgotten anything, if it looks ok etc.
Thanks so much
Birth Plan for Tara Sippel
Birth Companion: My birth companion for the duration of my labour will be my husband Jeremy Sippel. If he feels he needs more support then he will call my mother Rhondda Cook to come to the hospital.
Positions for labour and birth: I would like to remain mobile and upright. I will make use of the bath and will bring a large gym ball from home. I would prefer to give birth sitting upright on the end of the bed.
Pain relief: I would like to manage my pain as best as possible with heat packs, baths, massage and gas when I need it. I am also open to any suggestions the mid-wives may have to help me deal with the pain and get through without stronger drugs. I do not want to use Pethidine and would prefer not to have an epidural unless one is required to safely deliver the baby (in the event of a C-section being required).
Monitoring of baby?s heartbeat: I would prefer not to be confined to the bed if possible. If the baby?s heartbeat can be monitored while I remain mobile this is preferable. However, if it is necessary for me to be attached to the foetal monitor then I would prefer it to be for a limited amount of time.
Assisted delivery: If an assisted delivery is necessary then I would prefer for vacuum to be used rather than forceps.
Third stage labour: I would like drugs to be administered for the delivery of the placenta.
Additional information: Jeremy and I will also bring an IPod and docking station with us for music.
I would also like my baby to be given the Vitamin K injection at birth.
