    Hi,

Did they do any further testing or treat you for a UTI?

Luecocytes (sp) are white blood cells.

Keytones can indicate not enough fluids

    Blood can indicate infection.

Those together i would think UTI.

Thats just what i think though

I hope you feel better soon

thanks kristi I did a bit of research on the net and thats what I think to I did give another sample so I hope they are good at getting back with results very quick if not Ill ring my self tomorrow

why dont they treat for a uti straight away under those circumstances I wonder the doc did ask if i had any burning which i dont but I do get a pain in my left side when i do wee and when i told her i was having pains in my back and side she put it down to pregnancy niggles LOL

I dont fancy a full blown UTI I had one before I was so sick euck!!

Ketones are also a sign of high glucose. they happen when the body is unable to use the available glucose due to not enough insulin and the body starts to convert body fat into usable energy becasue it mistakenly thinks it is starving. 3+ urine ketones combined with 4+ urine glucose is a cause for concern. I would be keeping a close eye on both those...on their own they are not so much of an issue but in combination they serve as a warning. I would keep a close watch on your blood sugars and keep up the fluids. The high glucose and ketones would also be a major contributor to you feeling so tired and crappy.

And yes it could all be a result of a UTI. Infection makes you even more insulin resistant and puts your sugar levels up - combine that with GD and you are a rpime candidate. So again keep an eye on the sugar levels and if you start to feel really unwell at any stage go to a hospital asap. Ketoacidosis is a very very scary and serious condition that can develop really quickly if the ketones are high for any length of time. Prolly wont happen but it helps to be aware as a heads up.
    hope that helps.

well I rang the hospital and the sample came back inclusive and they don't want another one I did ask about the high sugars and ketones but the midwife didn't think it was any thing to be worried about not sure if im happy with that

Ill head to the doctor if I have to if i still don't feel well later or tomorrow
