Brown discharge 39w 4d - could this be my 'show'?

    Hi all,

I am only two days away from my EDD and yesterday had my OB appointment. He did an internal which was quite uncomfortable may I add LOL

About 4:30pm I went to the loo and had brown discharge ( like the start of AF ) so I put a panty liner on never thought much of it. I still have the brown discharge today although its barely nothing.

Thought I'd check to see what other people's opinions are on whether this could be my "show" and do you think I need to ring my MW and let her know?

    Any replies are greatly appreciated

You show would probably be really think and sticky kinda like (sorry tmi), but like snot. It can be clearish, yellowish, pink, brownish, or bloody. It usually smells kind of like sperm too. If the discharge is just normal brownish bloody discharge then I'd say the dr has probably just irritated you inside a bit.

    it could be
the best way (and this is grose and you will NEVER EAT IT AGAIN! Lol) to describe my show was

    CHOCOLATE YOGO DESSERT lol
but i also had red streaks of blood through it!

And i had it for 2 weeks before labour started - so you could call your mw but even if it was if you arent having contractions they wont do anything about it

Pink Palace - LMAO @ your description, YES that is what its like!

I just rang my OBs office - MW and OB arent there today but the receptionist said it would be from my OB poking around there yesterday and said that it is quite likely to be the start of things.

She said if I was worried about it in the morning (I'm not worried as such just thought I'd call and at least they know) to call back so I'll just monitor it and see.

so somedays it was raspberry chocolate yogo. lol im sorry but that is the only way i would describe it... and DH wouldnt touch me with a 10 foot pole when he saw it so i couldnt even use sex as a way to hurry things along! hehe.

Anyhow i was changing my liner every 3-4 hrs for 2 weeks. but when i finally started to have contractions (not bh) i was already 4cm.. and DD was delivered 2 hrs later!

so i have been told long prelabour = quick labour..!

I would sit tight unless you have your waters break or a lot of fresh red bleeding.. and know your bub is soon to come!

thanks for that PP - I am quite content at the moment to wait it out. Still have two more days before I'm even 'due' so yeah havent got to the "over it" stage just yet.
Funny you mention the sex thing. My hubby is exactly the same

I'm aiming for a waterbirth so I'm hoping my labour wont be "too" quick

PP I just had to laugh at your description. Makes a good comparison for people though!! I never had a show, so now if I do this time I'll know what to look for

I had a show with DD1 & my labour started a few hours later. Even though it could still be a while away.

The yogo description was in interesting one. Glad I don't eat it!!!!

My show was red spotting that got worse over the day until it was decent bleeding as I arrived at hospital 18 hours later- the midwives still called it a show. It was nothing like I'd expected it to be. It was pretty much the same as start of AF (mega AF later on) with a bit of fertile type CM mixed in. I guess it varies from person to person.

How exciting for you, it could all be starting for you. Best of luck with the waterbirth.
