    Brown-pink spotting and link-like 'discharge' at 34w4d

    3rd trimester TMI alert... LOL

I've got an Ob appointment in an hour but I was just wondering if anyone had an experience with brown-pink spotting at 34 weeks? It's only there when I wipe, started last night as only the tiniest bit of brown on the toilet paper and happened twice, once in the afternoon and another just before bed. Then this morning each time I got to the toilet there is none on the liner but always some on the toilet paper and it's usually between brown and light pinkish in colour and comes out with stuff that I wouldn't describe as snot-like (like I imagine the mucous plug would be - I never saw it last time so I have no idea what it's meant to look like), more like lint-like - not hard but sort of clumpy. Gosh, this is so TMI, sorry! I also had a growth scan on Tuesday. It was't internal but could that have triggered spotting?

Baby is moving reguarly. I've had sporadic cramps and backache since Saturday, Saturday was the worst as it was accompanied by 30-60 tightenings that were regular every 10 minutes almost all day (but not getting any tighter than usual so I wasn't concerned) and it has gradually got better since then, but then considering I'm 34 weeks I don't find it terribly unusual.

Would you just keep an eye on it, or tell the Ob. I've been trying to decide if I'll mention it to the Ob today. I don't particularly want to be sent to the birth suite, as I'm fairly sure all is fine.

Yes you should tell your OB. It sounds like your plug which can easily regenerate and you can last for ages, or could be a sign that you are going to labour soon. You are paying this guy a fortune to look after you, he can't do that if you don't tell him what's happening. Good luck xx

It could be coming from the cervix, pressure from the baby and it getting itself ready for the upcoming birth.

If it increases or you see more blood thats when i would get looked at otherwise i'd say its pretty normal.

    Actually, could it be thrush?

I would mention it. I had a bit of old blood at 34 weeks with DD2 & some mild contractions over 2 days, but she still wasn't born til 41 weeks.
Mine was brown blood only though. Nothing else to it. So it may be some of your plug, but I've heard the plug replenishes itself.

I've never been sent to a birth suite for monitoring, so I'm not sure how it works, but I would think that at 34 weeks you shouldn't need it. I may be wrong though.
For some reason I think that labour at 34 weeks isn't too early, so if its going to happen you shouldn't have the stress of monitoring. You should be able to just go home, chill out & see what happens. But I'm not an ob

Got sent for blood tests and then up to the birth suite on a monitor for 2 hours (dr was called to theatre, which was frustrating but can't help that I suppose), then they had a look, bleeding isn't excessive and blood test showed that there isn't a bleed behind the placenta (I don't know how they could tell but apparently they can?). Bleeding not coming from anywhere important. All looks good and normal. Go home and rest. Saw the midwife who delivered Jazz too which was cool :-)
