Thumbs down She's looking to be Posterior

Great! Had my 33 weeks appointment this evening & the midwife said bub's is sitting rather posterior. She has urged me to make sure I practice my exercises to encourage her to correct her positioning.

But I wonder, with the way she still flips about is it possible it wa sjust the way she happeneded to be sitting when she was feeling me?

Oh by the way, Glenn was Posterior at birth. While it was a long labour & he did get a little stuck coming out I still managed. But Don't really want to do it again.

She can still turn Fiona! Think positive I know lots of women who had OP bubs for them to turn at birth... Optimal Fetal Positioning and perhaps look into acupuncture for positioning too.

Thanks Kell, she gave me a little book to read on Optimal Fetal positioning as well. I know what it is I am doing thats the problem. I sit back to take pressure off my sternum & was told that is waht encouraged Glenn to be Posterior & that I should avoid sitting that way. But i catch myself doing it all the time. I need to be banned from siting on the couch! time to bring the Gym ball out I think.

Hope you can get her to turn for you Fiona, GREAT to hear that you can give birth okay to a posterior bub though, because my little darling is so far shaping up to do the big 3/4 turn Well I hope it still turns! And I have been sitting fwd, and crawling about and scrubbing floors, and I haven't sat on the couch for ages.

A friend suggested I move to the northern hemisphere, if babies work like bathwater, then it might only turn 1/4 to get out...not so sure about that one

My birth centre give sterile water injections which (although they sting at first) can give from 40mins to 3hrs relief for a back labour.

I guess we just have to do everything we can, without the stress of becoming obsessive compulsive about it (I was sleeping exclusively on my left side, and I was ready to amputate my left hip! Now I sleep on whatever side is comfy {currently neither })
Let me know if something works for you though!

Last week at 36 weeks my baby was posterior and had actually moved upwards instead of downwards. Had OB appointment yesterday and he's now anterior and moving down again nicely. He did it all by himself with no exercises or particular attention on my positions for sleeping or sitting from me. Obviously realised he was coming in at the wrong angle and hit reverse to straighten himself up LOL!

You've got plenty of time yet.

yeah Fiona I sit on the gym ball more and more now because I find myslef reclining backwards... and I've been doing 30 minutes a night of positioning & visualising to help put this baby in the right place for everything! Goodluck!

Apprently you should avoid deep squating when they are postiour so I figure deep squating would be a good thing to do when they are anterior. Squating encourages them to engage so I am going to keep doing what I have been to get her anterior & squat as well. LOL I must look so funny.

At 36 weeks the midwife said she was back to being normal. But I haven't been back yet. I said I didn't feel I needed to go to weekly visits yet. So my next visit is thursday (will be 38+ weeks), then I will be on weekly.
I think she has her back to my stomach wall but its hard to tell because I still get strong (protuding sp?) kicks from near my belly button that move across to my side, so I figure if she has her back to my stomach wall, how the hell is she poking out like that? But then mum pointed out it could be an elbow.
