Bubs still transverse

I had my Ob appointment last Monday and bubs was still transverse, he was concerned and thought about admitting me. I have another ob appointment tomorrow, DH thinks that the Ob will probably admit me if baby is still transverse tomorrow. What do you think?

He said that it is very dangerous if I go into labour with bubs in transverse, I guess that combined with me not being able to have natural birth makes things worse.

I can't believe that tomorrow we're down to single digits of sleeps til bubs arrives - it truely has gone soo quick for me.

I'm no medical expert, but I don't know why it would be dangerous just to go into labour whilst transverse, unless there are other issues. Simply, you just won't progress and you'll need a c/s if the baby doesn't turn. I believe that labour can actually turn some transverse babies - this was certainly the case with my dd2 who was transverse the day I went into labour with her.

If you have an appt, ask the obstetrician exactly what the danger is if you are allowed to go to term regardless of the baby's position.

The problem with going into labour with a transverse lie is if your waters break there is a risk of cord prolapse which places that baby at risk. A c-section needs to be immediately available if that occurs.

DD was head down 1 1/2 weeks before I went into labour. My waters broke, ctx started 45 min later, when we presented at the hospital about 45min after ctx started she was transverse and posterior (reasoning for me having back pain rather than ctx in the front), I was 7-8cm on arrival.

I laboured on my knees and my OB assisted in turnning DD, I would have delivered on my knees but they lost the HB and they needed me to turn over for an episiotomy and she needed to come out quickly, no risks were being taken. She was born on the next ctx, 45 min after arriving at hospital. I think though there was more room for DD to move as she was almost 7 weeks early, so still had a bit more "moving room".

Have you been onto Spinning Babies Website? There is some great information there on turning transverse babies, it is harder though the further on you are.

Hello Sorry I never replied to your posts - thanks! But I went into labour and was at hospital a couple of hours after I posted this. We are now parents to a precious baby girl. I will put up an announcement shortly with all the details. This is just the most amazing experience ever

sorry i prob sound like a total dumb bum here but what does transverse mean?

Not a dumb bum!! I had no idea either until I was faced with it. Baby was lying across my belly. Head to the left, feet to the right

Don't feel silly - it means bubs is lying across ways instead of up/down so normally bubs would be head down, bum up or in the case of breech bum down, head up. With transverse the head is out one side and bum out the other so it needs to turn 90 degrees to make an exit.

Trish - No she was transverse still.

Still find it funny that I was probably having the early signs of labour when I typed the thread hahaa
