Bump Hardening - not BH though??

    Hi Everyone,

Just wondering if anyone else is experiencing this and if it happens to mean anything.

I'm 30 weeks and 5 days and for the past few afternoons lasting well into the eveningto almost bedtime, my bump goes almost rock solid. It is constant, so that's what makes me think it's not BH cause is doesn't come and go, it is there all the time.

Sitting down I now feel the bump resting on my thighs cause everything feels really low, back is aching, bump feels soooo tight and heavy - and I just am wondering if anyone else has had the same thing?

    Any input would be great.

    Thanks heaps

    Hey Julie

I have had something similar on a couple of occassions, I know what you mean it is consistent, I have had it while out shopping a couple of times, and it has lasted for quite some time, up to an hour or more. I thought it could have been BH, but yeah it doesn't come and go like they are supposed to.

Sorry I havn't been much help , but at least you know you aren't the only one!!

    Cheers

Jules, yeah I get the same thing. My belly also feels so HEAVY.... like if it wasn't attached to me I would drop it

But I have been assured that it is BH's??? Mine usually come of a night time, but that could just be because I'm sitting around and my attention isn't taken up on other things, like it is during the day. Its very uncomfortable and feels like bubs is trying to claw its way out of my belly!!!!

    So you aren't alone.....

I get this too. I think sometimes its hard to tell the diff between bubs being in a wierd position and BH. At around 26 weeks I freaked out because I had a constant tight feeling across my abdomen which would not go away with rest, like BH normally do. I went to the hospital and they monitored everything, and I wasn't contracting. They said it was either a UTI, which can cause that feeling of constant tightness, or just bubs in an odd position. The tests for UTI were all fine, so I guess it was just my baby! It got better after a few days. So now, whenever I get that tight feeling that won't go away, I assume its bean pressing his bum or back or something against my belly!

    Thanks girls

good to know i'm not the only one. It almost got to the point last night where i couldn't stretch out to stand up straight or take deep breaths cause it would feel all too tight.

I'm happy if it's BH, but far out - it was amazing. and hopefully normal?!?!?

    Hi jules
    yes they are BH
I had them from 28 weeks and regular.
They are just your body practicing but they dont actually prepare the body for labour as in they dont dilate the cervix.... Thisi s what the contractions do

I had the same problem a couple of weeks ago and it turnes out my bub was transverse! Not very comfortable! Try having a little walk and maybe the baby will move into a more comfortable position for you.

I was about to log on and ask the same question. Just for the past 36 hours or so my bh have just gone through the roof. It feels like I am always having one! I'm not though, I think they come and go. Also, I am getting a lot of period pain. Nice to know I'm not alone.

Alan, thanks for the info, it's nice to know that they are in fact BH. I have been having them for quite a while too, the last week or so I've noticed they are getting worse when I am walking DD into school and I have to slow down quite a bit.

    Thanks Alan.

I had no idea BH could last that long!

My scan last week showed bubs in great head down anterior position, so hope it decides to stay that way.

my back was killing me last night so did some of the stretches and warm-ups from PreggiBellies DVD with the fit ball and that helped. Didn't really want to jiggle around too much cause everything just was sooo tight, but the stretching helped the strain on my back of having BH for hours?!?!? ha

    Anyone else using PreggiBellies?
