    Question bump size?

Can you care provider tell if you have low amniotic fluid by feeling your belly?

I feel i am still very small until after dinner, i know this might be totally normal but thought i would ask.

Some days are bigger than others and today it feels like my whole shape has changed, more round to the sides than out to the front as it was

    thanks

I'm not sure if a care provider can tell how much amoniotic fluid there is by palpatation. Personally, I was sent for multiple U/S to check both my kids size from 36-40 weeks and they can assess amniotic fluid percentage there.

It's likely that bub has just changed position and therefore that affects the way your bump looks.

    bump size?

It's normal for your bump to change and shift in size as bubs moves around. If there are concerns about your bump size ie measuring too small they will send you for an ultrasound. It's normal to feel bigger after eating at this stage and I find bubs goes up under my ribs at night not sure why but all three have done it.

I understand your concern - I had a pretty small baby bump the whole of my pregnancy - I still can't believe I had an 8 pounder hiding in there! I am curvier though, so I know that masked it more, but the MW just kept telling me it was just the way my body carried and that lots of ladies do, not always a big bump out in front. To be honest, I wanted the big huge bump, because people always thought I was far less pregnant than I was, but all in all I was just happy bub was okay. And I had far less trouble doing things than alot of my big bump pregnant friends so that was a bonus!

When is your next visit with your Doc/MW? Let them know of your worries and I'm sure they'll double check for you and hopefully ease them for you, but I'm sure they'd let you know if they had any concerns themselves. You might have a nice compact little package like my DD was right until the end! Maybe your bub has moved to another position also, which can affect the size and shape, and just when you get used to it they'll move again

Thanks all! i know i just stress about something always! lol and i kinda thought bubs must have moved - the loopsided bump gave it away! lol

just was wondering how they pick these things up to then refer you for the scan.

    Cheers

If your fundal height was a bit on the small side then they might send you for a scan to check bubs size and your fluid levels out.
I wouldn't worry though! I was teeny with my first pregnancy! I did get a little bigger at the end but still when I was in labour we couldn't believe that a fully grown baby was tucked away in there! (Weight was 3.36kg in the end, so a lovely size!)

They get an "idea" from your fundal height. I had excess amniotic fluid with DD, and my fundal height was measuring about 4 weeks ahead, she did a scan and a series of measurements and determined that I had quite a bit of excess fluid, she then did testing for GD and some BT's to see if there was an infection as a cause, in the end everything came back negative. This pregnancy I have low amniotic fluid, my OB picked it up on a scan 4 weeks ago, (I am having fortnightly scans checking my cervix length), but she seemed less concerned at my last scan as there is little fluid around bub, there are pockets at either end.
