can i tell a difference between discharge and leaking amniotic fluid?

I'm 33 weeks pregnant and the last few weeks have noticed increasing amounts of clear discharge, sometimes it is slightly mucousy and sometimes its quite watery and thin (sorry if TMI). It has quite a strong smell but I wouldn't say it was offensive. I rang a midwife and she said I would probably be able to tell if I was leaking fluid. Does this sound normal?

It sounds like normal mucous to me One of the joys of pregnancy lol! Mine didn't increase at all until about 30 weeks, and then there was a lot more, sometimes creamy, sometimes watery. I don't think it's leaking fluid, I think you'll definitely see a difference if it is your waters.

Your waters have a very sweet smell about them.
It does sound like it is just discharge.
If you are concerned use a panty liner and at your next check up ask them to test it...they can do a litmus test to determine if it is.

My jocks were always soaking wet due to discharge towards the end of my pregnancy (I only made it to 34 weeks).

Wear a liner. It saves you feel wet, lol.

Amniotic fluid has a really distinct smell so if it smells the same as usual it's probably just discharge.

This started happening to me about 3-4 weeks ago now.... my undies were so wet in one spot like I'd wee'd myself but it's just extra discharge being so heavily pregnant..... I have had to wear liners otherwise it's too uncomfortable and yucky
I was very worried it was my waters leaking slowly a few weeks ago but turns out it wasn't. I'm still pregnant don't remember having so much watery discharge with DD's pregnancy.
