Hi, I have a c-section booked for next Thursday, had my Drs app today, baby still high, nothing happening down below, had a little bit of back pain this morning, my cervix is closed tight after Dr did an internal today. Had some bleeding this afternoon, which I phoned my dr about, he said this is normal, but did I have any tightenings. I thave had some this afternoon, and tonight, everything feels tight, and uncomfortable down below since the internal. Could this be the start of a natural birth/labour? Dr was hoping to 'stir' things up, but not confindent as my last bub was EMCS, and never engaged or even come close. Is it possible I could still go by myself before next Thursday?
some times they do a stretch and sweep which means if your cervix is favourable it can cause natural labour with me i had 2 s&s's with my last two and they brought them on within 4 hrs or less..
the bleeding is natural too just keep an eye for your mucus plug or a big gush of water..
is this your first?
the tightenings can be a pretend warm up for things to come, you may go into labour by then and have it before then
babies can always change positions and engage out of no where lol they are funny little things they never do anything till their ready..

Hi Lizzy, i think anything is possible with babies! Did you DR recommend anything?? Acupressure, Acupuncture, Aromatherapy, Bowel stimulation, Herbs, Homoeopathy, Massage, Nipple stimulation, Orgasm, sex with DH(prostaglandins in semen very good at softening a cervix) Visualisation, Walking. Of course check with your healthcare provider to make sure they don't have any issues with anything you try!
I had my appt today and have to go back this sat to have a cardiotograph of the bub and ultrasound to measure the amount of amniotic fluid that i have. Then i'm having a strip and sweep which was mentioned above, i was offered one today but refused it. As i don't want to introduce anything that ma cause infection if poss as i have GBS.
I have started to give myself essential oil massage and got my DH to work on my cervix.. I really hope it will start spontaneously.
Anyway i think there is a chance that things might get going by Thursday week.

Thanks ladies, nothing happening yet, I'm GBS positive also, Dr didn't recommend anything, I have been on the fit ball, walk every morning with my son and husband, had sex!! Talked to the baby!!! LOL..... I don't mind having the caesear as long as the baby is healthy, we discussed this early in the pregnancy due to the things that happened last time, would like to still think it might happen by itself, but settled to know we have a date.... Unfortunately my cervix is not favourable at all, and baby high and free, which also happened last time, the reason also why my Dr wont induce me and because of the EMCS last time too with the scar. Theres still a week, I'm nervouse about the caesearian, even though this time I know whats to happen, not sure if thats better or worse!! My Dr reassured me that if it's planned its easier on your body and you can mentally prepare yourself, also if something happens in the meantime, thats great! Tillie are you due any day?
Hey Lizzy, i'm glad you are feeling good about the poss Caesear, i agree that it is good to be prepared! You sound good. Sometime our bodies can be really frustrating! Seems to work against you, well thats how i feel at the moment!
My due date was 5 days ago.... i just can't believe i'm still waiting for bub to make an appearance! I'm frustrated.

Thanks Lizzy!! Still waiting... 40 wks +6 days. I've just come home after having round 2 of acupuncture, i had a session yesterday. Its awful! THe acupuncturalist said that this acupuncture is the most unpleasant to have as its purpose is to get things out or going as you're late! Definitely not fun!

Hi tillie, well hopefully it gets things going for you! Good things never come easy.....?! No, nothing happening, had some pain and cramps last night and this morning, but nothing. Having a very emotional day, keep thinking about next week, and how I'm going to get through this next week. I'm excited about whats coming, but also KNOW whats coming with the c-section, looking at the 'glass half full' though. At least I have a date and can prepare to some extent. As long as my bub is healthy, and whatever and whichever way it comes is healthy. How much longer will they let things go for with you?
Its like a tease isn't it? All these little pains and cramps, i've had those as well!
THis sat i am having the bubs heart monitored and the amniotic fluid measured, then after that i will be having the stretch and sweep procedure, they will only do that once as i am GBS+ and they don't want to introduce possible infections.
I have until next week the 27th otherwise they will i guess properly induce me but i will be in the regular birthing suite, i am currently booked into the FBC. I'm hoping that it doesn't come to that as i won't know any of the midwife's or be familiar with the rooms.
But as you say as long as bub comes out healthy and happy thats the main thing!

Hi Lizzy, I managed to get out of the stretch and sweep yesterday by having baby instead!!! Went into labour at 2 am sat morning/fri night and had bubs, a boy, at 11.23am sat morning. What a big day!! How are you going? Any movement from your uterus?? xx
Congratulations!!!! Well done, hope you are both doing well. No nothing yet, at all! Have another Drs app tomorrow, CTG for check up on bubs, have to get blood taken for Thursday and another Drs app in the arvo for anethesic check up. I'm due today so you never know...... Wishful thinking, I'm just preparing myself for Thursday, if something happens beforehand thats great for us! Congrats again, glad everything went well, xo.
Hi Lizzy, Good luck for the appt tomorrow for you and bub, hopefully the littlie will come along on its own accord for you both before thurs.. : o ) I'll keep all my finger and toes crossed. Everything went well for us in the end, i had a retained placenta for almost 2 hrs and nearly had to have surgury, but the dr managed to pull it out with a bit of force.. Traumatic... Anyway we went home on the same day, about 12 hrs after arrival and we are home i'm very tired and can't do much but glad to be home!. Keep me updated...xxx
