    Wink Pre-Labour & Cervix Question

    Hi All,

With the contractions that I have had resulting in my hospital admission (see Pre-Term labour thread) my cervix has shortened. However still very tightly closed and 2-3cm long...now what is this going to mean to me in the long term? Will I go on to carry to full term or will I go earlier than normal???

Is there things I should avoid (like sex) and is there anything I can do to ensure that bub stay put ??? I am going to ask the midwife too but I thought I would ask other mums too as their experiences are very helpful!!!

    Cheers
    Lisa

    Hi Lisaqg
Your cervix is normally about 3-5cm long so it has not shortened too much if anything. Being tightly closed is also another good sign. It is difficult to say if you will go to full term due to many other factors that could come into play. However going on just what you have said here I would guess that you have a better than even chance of getting close to term.
    Things to avoid would include.
    Sex
    Orgasm
    RLT
    EPO
Nipple stimulation of any sort. Use a well fitted bra.
    Hope this helps
