hi,
I had pretty much no signs at all. I couldn't sleep the night before i went into labour but I wasn't in pain or anything, just couldn't switch off. the next afternoon my water broke and the day after that, there was my little boy!
Probably not much help I know! good luck with the VBAC!!!
I was induced because they had to closely monitor little one and had protien in my urine.
The ob didn't believe me when i said i'd had no pain but was quite alarmed upon examination that i'd dilated 5 cms without even knowing,Was promptly booked in to be induced. All stages of labour i was giggling through contractions prior to needing to push without pain killers.
My mother had no idea she was in labour until she felt the urge to push. Which was lucky she was having asthma problems and was in hospital for monitoring anyway
My friend was having random contractions for 2 weeks prior to having her baby.
So I guess I'm saying that I think it depends on the individual.
DS1 i had slight twinges in lower belly, went to sleep and woke up with them being much stonger and had a show. Then had contractions at home for 12hrs before we went to the hospital. Waters were broken by dr at the hospital.
DS2 my waters broke after a shower. I had pains on and off a few days before hand.
Good luck i hope things start moving for you really soon
Having had 2 sections myself, and not gone into labour - I probably shouldn't comment, but I just wanted to say try not to be anxious about going overdue. Try all natural induction methods to help your body along, and just try to relax and let whatever be - be.
If you stress out too much, it can stop labour from naturally occuring - which is a double-edged sword cos all you want is to go into labour (believe me, I know - I was 2 weeks overdue with Miss M and had a c-section)
So thats my advice. Try not to think about. Take long showers and try to bond with your baby and release any stresses you think are holding it back.
Good luck with your VBAC.
I had no signs, I was very surprised when my obstetrician examined me at 38 weeks and told me I was 4cms dilated with bulging waters ad was effaced!!! The week before my baby was still very hgh and was told to expect her to come late!
this is my third and I constantly wonder the same thing...how will I know when I'm in labour?! I was induced with the last two, and I have a high pain tolerance and have had alot of pain this pregnancy, thanks to rather severe braxton hicks and a recurring bladder infection that keeps agitating my uterus. So I get worried that I am just going to ignore the indicating pains and contractions that are warning me that labour is coming and end up with a baby in the car. More than anything, like Arimeh said, I am trying not to stress about the whole 'going over' thing and cause my body to stress out, and instead just enjoy this last little time of baby kicks and no night feeds
