No advice, just sympathy. I've got them already and I'm only just over half way.
I believe there are creams you can get that help but no idea if they are safe during pregnancy.
Hope someone else can give some more useful advice.

Hi all,
Let's keep it quiet but....I have hemorrhoids
They hurt, they're annoying and I have no idea what to do. I've tried witch hazel on cotton pads and that helps and Anusol which helps a bit more. Dh helpfully told me to 'push them back in' which is totally unsuccessful and nearly makes me pass out from the pain.
Ok, so... what do I do?

Buy some of Proctosedyl suppositories for treating haemorrhoids from the chemist (make sure you keep them in the fridge). I had to use them when I was pregnant with DD as I too got haemorrhoids. So embarrassing!!!And I REALLY had to use them after giving birth.... and they got HUGE!!! Eww. Just a tip... mine were hurting so much during labour (due to all the pushing obviously), the midwife gave me a local so they stopped hurting and I could push pain free... so to speak. LOL - Might be worth keeping in the back of your mind, just in case. I feel your pain!!!
I was fortunate enough to not get them, but my mum used to swear by getting some latex gloves, filling the fingers with water, tie them off and freezing them and once frozen she would cut the fingers off above the knot and she used to put one of them inside her knickers. She never used to put them directly on the skin, but she had small flannels that she would wrap around them first.
or get the doc to lance them. Makes them better after a few days and all good.
i know exactly what your going through, as i too have them
so embarressing and my DH said the same thing that yours did
But he was just trying to be funny, not helpful LOL
I used some cream that didnt really do muchjust ate my fibe cereal in the morning (which is yukky) drink planty of water and dont strain when i use the loo.. i am FREAKING out about labour, they arent so bad at the moment.. they're kind of just 'there' IYKWIM
but i know once i start pushing it wont be pretty
im so sorry i have no solution for you![]()
You poor bugger. I got them pretty bad after labour. My best advice is to use the bottom cream from the chemist that has a local anaesthetic in it - but even though it is tempting - do not use it before going to the toilet as the pain is there to stop you pushing too hard and you may actually keep doing damage, so use it afterwards to help soothe. Secondly - I don't recommed using a dietary fibre (eg metamucil) as I found it really bulked up my poo (I know TMI right?) which made it hurt like OMG! So eat lots and lots of fruit and drink lots and lots of water. It doesn't seem to bulk it up but more make it soft.
The best position physically to do a no. 2 is to lift up your feet a bit so your knees are a bit higher than your thighs and lean forward. Take a book in so you aren't in a hurry in there and massaging your belly in a clockwise direction can help move things along.
Anyway I hope this helps. I feel your pain.
Why is everyone whispering in here when they say haemorrhoids? :P
Shhhhhh Michael - we don't want everyone to know!!!
I got them too after DD3 and am dealing with them again after DD4.![]()
The best thing I've found is a cream called proctofoam, which I needed a prescription for. Makes everything feel MUCH better!
And, as the PP have mentioned, witch hazel, fibre, fruit, and WATER. Oh, and avoid narcotic pain relief during and after delivery - that stuff will plug you up.
Hope you get relief soon!
