    DTD at end of pregnancy

Last pregnancy I just couldn't be bothered, LOL. This time I am keen to have a bit of sex to get things moving along.
Last night was our first night in a few weeks (we have just been looking after each other in different ways... Well, not as often as DH would like, but there's another issue, LOL!)
Ok, here's my problem - I really wanted to but found that I was particularly dry down there. I thought things were supposed to be "much wetter" down there generally atm?!? What's wrong with me? Has anyone experienced this? (It was very strange, very out of the ordinary for me. Usually after a little bit of 'warming up' I don't have that problem, even when I was breastfeeding.)
Is it a hormonal thing? Will it be like that every time? If so, I don't think I will bother... Does lubricant get in the way of the semen and negate its affect (in terms of ripening the cervix)?
TIA for any advice or experiences people may wish to share.

I don't think using lube will stop the effects completely of the semen aiding the cervix to ripen. Usually you are wetter down below in late pregnancy or the fluid is thinnish or claggy and not good for that sort of thing to my knowledge but eveyone is different. Unless your just completely not in the mood I would still try with lube as I am sure it will help with labour vibes and you never know you might warm up in the middle lol.

Yeah I'm pretty sure I've read before that it can be due to hormonal changes... I found the same when I was breastfeeding too.

discharge in late pregnancy is thin and not 'lubricating' infact it with the 'friction' of DTD can make it dryer and more uncomfy, no lube will not negate effects of prostiglandins in semen unless you doused your insides with it, GL

I was told today that if you want the sex to help bring on labour, you also need to make sure that you both enjoy it so that it brings on more natural hormones. Hope it works for you.

yeah and itll only work if baby is ready anyway e.g. if she was gonna come out on her own within the next day...its not like itll bring it forward a few weeks

I think what she means is orgasim releases oxytocin (I could be wrong - wouldn't be the first time)... which is why I suggested in our group those desperate enough could try BOB? lol.

Thanks for the input, girls. Ah, it makes sense then if the wet stuff atm is not suitable lube for sex... Eases my mind somewhat.
And yeah, I understand that orgasms are good for releasing hormones and also for contracting the uterus. My main concern was that DTD was not so comfy. We are ok with doing other stuff, IYKWIM, if the sex doesn't do it for me.
And TM, IRT it only working if the body is ready anyway, I was just trying to do as much as I can. I understand bubs will come when she's ready, but I've had no indication of anything going on down there that would suggest I'd go into labour anytime over the next 3-ish weeks, so I just wanted to help my body out however I can. Grasping at straws, I guess

Amy - there are many inappropriate comments running through my head (and have been all week over the whole "sex as induction" thing!) but i'm refraining cos i'm too polite to post!

aww, who am i kiddin? i just don't wanna be banned for posting norty stuff anywhere other than AO!

i honestly thought things were starting to happen last night after DTD - strong BH during (yay for disruptions!) and niggles all night but i'm back to nothing again this morning. it's so not fair! i got hardly any movement all night until she got hiccups this morning (when distress at lack of movement was starting to get to me!) - she is soooo heavy in my pelvis when i walk though OUCH!

no more "natural" induction for us for a few days with DH going away... sigh...

You could always burst open an EPO capsule to use as lube. Ive done that and it works great.

I'm so knackered that there'll be no 'natural induction' action here tonight either.
Thanks for the EPO tip, Caz. I've got some of that!
