I used it a few times before the birth of my baby and I actually think it helped in the sense of me getting used to pushing down there and feeling the strange sensations (sort of like practice) which *may* have assisted me to feel more in control during the pushing phase too. If it were me, i would use it again because I think it made a difference, no matter how small.
I personally only tore the tiniest tiniest bit (didn't really need stitches but OB put 1 or 2 in to "accelerate healing"... Hmm) and I had a massive 3.945kg baby and I am only tiny! My stupid OB even said when pregnant that he doubts I'll be able to do it vaginally because of the baby's size!! HonestlyI credit that to really taking my time during pushing stage and only breathing him out to begin with to allow the area to stretch. I never did full blown pushing til the last few minutes. Just thought I'd share that with you to give you a few tips on my experience
