I used it a few times before the birth of my baby and I actually think it helped in the sense of me getting used to pushing down there and feeling the strange sensations (sort of like practice) which *may* have assisted me to feel more in control during the pushing phase too. If it were me, i would use it again because I think it made a difference, no matter how small.

I personally only tore the tiniest tiniest bit (didn't really need stitches but OB put 1 or 2 in to "accelerate healing"... Hmm) and I had a massive 3.945kg baby and I am only tiny! My stupid OB even said when pregnant that he doubts I'll be able to do it vaginally because of the baby's size!! Honestly I credit that to really taking my time during pushing stage and only breathing him out to begin with to allow the area to stretch. I never did full blown pushing til the last few minutes. Just thought I'd share that with you to give you a few tips on my experience
