Unhappy EXTREMELY itchy stretch marks!! Help!

I am one of the lucky pregnant women who have been blessed with a sh*tload of stretchmarks on my belly!! Yes, i used heaps of Bio Oil and Cocoa Butter initially but nothing deterred them! I guess I was just prone to get them!
I don't mind having them but lately they have started driving me up the wall as they are incredibly ITCHY!!!!!

I've tried moistursing creams but that doesn't help..... should I try Calomine (?) lotion? That safe to apply?? I don't have any so i'll have to head to the chemist to get some.....

I try not to scratch them but if I do it makes them worse (of course) and then my stretch marks look even redder!!!! Ugh!!

I had really itchy stretchmarks first time round too (not so bad on second pregnancy - there's some hope for you )

I used a cream from the chemist for eczema - dermo something I think - a weak version of the full strength one. It worked great - maybe you could ask the pharmacist about something like that??

You could try some QV lotion - I use that from time to time for DS"s eczema. Or there is a tar-based one that I use myself and it works a treat in inflamed and itchy skin.

I had this in my first pregnancy too. It lasted until pretty much the birth. The only thing that got me through was having pinetarsol baths twice a day. It stinks like nothing else but it worked.

Thanks for warning me about Calamine lotion! I'm glad I didnt go out and buy any today. I just wanted to stay home and not leave the house. A rare rest day......

I'm still pretty itchy but it comes and goes throughout the day. I have Moo Goo moisturiser and tried that and that seems to help temporarily and having a warm bath helps.

I have Gaia baby oil should i try that? It's natural oils for babies. (no harsh chemicals)

Antheia - where do you get Pinetarsol from?? Never heard of it.

Ren,you can get pinetarsol from the chemist. People use it for chickenpox sometimes. Like i said though it bloody stinks and is a fluro yellow colour.

I also am blessed with heaps of stretchies, and a couple of weeks ago I had a bout of the unbearable itches, especially my bbs.

I went to see my naturopath and she gave me a mixture of almond kernel and avocado oil (and some other oils) which really helped.

It seemed to ease off after a few days of use.

Hope you find something that helps!

Ren, oh I hear you! Sarah H recommended something to me... I forget what its called... mine is in a green bottle spray... oh bugger it I'll go look... ok Aloe Vera OMG its soooooooooooooooooooooooo soothing, nice and cool on horribely itchy stretchmarks!

    https://www.bellybelly.com.au/forums...-me-crazy.html

But be careful its not something called (i think...) PUPPPs... maybe check with your midwife?

Leasha - yeah i read about PUPPPS! I was worried but that's more if you have a rash in all parts of your body whereas this is only my tummy and my stretchmarks havent changed they look the same. I think its just itchy dry skin! But will check with my GP at my appt next Monday to be sure....

I bought some Almond Oil from the health store yesterday and rubbed some on my tummy this morning it feels alot better instantly..... just hope it doesnt stain my clothes ah well!!

    Hey Claire

Showed GP today at my appt and she said its just part of the whole pregnancy thing and not much i can do about it! (which is what i thought anyway)

I've been rubbing Almond Oil on it at night (that stains so wear an old singlet!) and that helps! Also during the day i've been rubbing Moogoo moisturiser cream on and also Palmers Cocoa butter for stretchmarks that seems to soothe it temporarily.

Not much else i find works..... some days are itchier than others! I suppose its another 8weeks of this so i am just trying to get on with it all and ignore it - its hard!! itching makes it worse so i dont do that.
