    Fanny pain!

Hello, OK, well I've reached that point in the PG where I get that occasional sharp stabbing fanny sensation (it feels exactly like being kicked in the cervix from the inside) which I remember well from the late weeks of my first PG.

However, I'm only 33.5 weeks. Is it normal to be feeling this oh so unique sensation this early...? Does it mean bubs is engaging or is that just a popular myth?

    Just curious, is all...

I"m not sure if it would be bub engaging, I don't see why not? Sounds like there's definitely some pressure there! This bub engaged by 33 weeks. I got really bruised feeling in that area, only discover that I had terrible varicose veins down there - ouch!!! So I hope it is bub engaging for you!

I've been getting that pain too occasionally over the last week. Am now just on 38 weeks and bub is nowhere near being engaged.

    Hey Marydean

that wonderful sensation is your beautiful baby poking you in the cervix...still lots of room, so it could be a head, hand of even a foot.

The sensation is also directly related to the fact that our cervix has an abundant supply of nerve endings so we feel every little poke and prod...the more advance we get in pregnancy the less room for baby and more kick the mummy to get comfy

I have had the same pain for the last few weeks. I've been telling hubby it feels like baby is trying to kick its way out of me already!!! I hope its normal to have it early on cuz I'm only 28 weeks.

I've had that exact pain since about 26 weeks- it's kind of a jolt, isn't it?
I'm now 40 weeks 2 days, and my baby definitely isn't engaged yet (COME ON!!!!!!) but in our scan at 39 weeks 6 days, it was revealed that he/she had his/her hand up above his/her head. So I think there's been some poking going on.

I have also been getting this pain for weeks now, i think i started getting it around 28wks. My little one has been a low laying bubs and has been head down off to the side since 30wks - she is now engaged and has been for a few weeks.
I find the ache is more prominant at night now.

I'm not the only one, yahoo!

I started getting 'that sensation' around 34 weeks. At my 36 week checkup babe's head was 2/5 above brim (I assume engaged means the same thing?) But he hadn't tucked his chin down toward his chest, so his forehead was coming into contact with my pelvic and nether regions first, instead of his crown. My Ob did say that this could be slightly more painful than if he had his chin to chest, like a good boy!

I am finding now that these pains are worse at night, when I try to lay down and *apparrently* sleep! And as other people have described, it feels like babe is trying to kick their way out, or that someone is applying pressure in the top of the vagina from the inside (I suppose this is EXACTLY what's happening hey!)

I reckon it's probably completely normal, seeing as how so many of us are whinging about it! We can't all be wrong, right? By the way, any thoughts from anyone about how to stop it? Besides giving birth? And especially at night when it's time to get horizontal and sleep, I'd appreciate some ideas!

Yep- Im 36 weeks today and I have been gettin that for a few weeks now. Mine gets so fullon that it feels like my waters are going to break. It actually takes my breath away.

I had a false labour last week with irratic contractions and I think everything is getting ready down there to have this baby. At a scan 2 days ago, I was told the baby was measuring fullterm.. so I am hoping and guessing that im not too far off..

    Only time will tell
