I'm so impressed by your wonderful optimism!! That tells me right there that you'll be a great mum to your little man. Amazing that you're not freaking out (although I'm sure you did a bit of that, too). You really know how to keep a steady head and you're very practical, which is so commendable. The doctors must :heartbeat: you, I bet you're getting lots of attention up there from all the hospital staff.
I'm so glad your baby shower was a success and you got everything, verrrry uncanny timing, that. At least your husband isn't running around like a headless chicken trying to stock up on baby essentials.
-
Great to hear from you Georgi!! Sounds like you are doing well and thinking positively. I'm sure your little man will be just fine!!
-
Georgi,
I'm so glad you have your laptop! I bet you are glad too! So good to read your post. I'm glad your DH managed to set the cradle up! I was even going to suggest if your DH needs any help at all with anything, give him my mobile number and i can help out in any way if you need it ok? So please don't hesitate to ask! I'm not far away.
That message i sent you for bubs yesterday must have helped! I'll send you another one....here it is.... "little man, listen up, you need to stay put because STILL your Mummy and Daddy can't compromise on a name they both like for you so you will just have to wait until they have decided. Another thing, you need to stay nice and warm and cozy in your Mumma's womb because TBH, it's just cold outside at the moment and spring hasn't even arrived yet!! So hang on a little bit longer for Mummy and keep growing nice and strong. We all can't wait to meet you but only when you are ready." ;)
Big hugs Georgi  xxx can't wait to come see you Sat.
You're doing so well stay strong :)
-
HI Georgi - you sound really positive so that's a wonderful thing. You may not know my story but I birthed my baby girl Imogen at the RWBH spot on 28 weeks. Different circumstances to you but we were there none the less. I am assuming you are in the lovely 6Bsouth where I am sure you will be cared for as beautifully and kindly (by almost everyone!;)) as I was.
You are in the absolute best place to have a premmie - the staff at NICU are second to none and the obstetric team know their stuff. Your little one is much bigger than mine (Im was 815grams) but he will be small - his recovery will be quicker the more days he stays in.
After your discharge you can stay next door at Ronald Macdonald house. It is not home but it is free and close to the hospital so you can be with your baby as much as possible.
My advice is keep a diary - write down everything that has and is happening. Take lots of photos, get on a good mobile phone plan! Contact the lactation consultant before the birth and learn how to hand express. That colostrum is liquid gold for premmies and so is the breast milk. Prem babies need breastmilk - it is the best thing for them. The lactation consultant will be only too happy to come to your room to talk to you.
If you need anything. If you need support - if it all gets too much you can pm me and I will give you my contact details. I would be happy to come up to Brisbane and lend you support.
YOur baby's chances of being a happy healthy baby are huge - it's a stressful time just live each moment, talk to your baby and try and relax.
-
Oh goodness Georgi, I was so shocked to see this post, but you sound like you're doing fabulously! So big big well done to you hun, and keep going well
Hopefully your little fella will stay put until next week - sounds like you've got an impatient one there! I'm happy to hear you got everything you need at your shower, and you are going to be a brilliant brilliant mumma to your boy! Thinking of you...:hug:

Once again, thanks so much for all your kind words.
FLOWERCHILD I am in the Mater Mothers Private hospital which I am told has only been open for 2 months. I'm guessing they have all the up to date equipment. Basically the private & public are in the same hospital, just on different floors. Your advice is spot on. Thank you so much for your reassurance. I have been watching the in house channel about premmie babies & breast feeding. It has been so helpful. And funny enough, I was just thinking I should up my mobile phone plan. I have given DH a list of things for him to bring me tomorrow & one of those was an exercise book so I can keep a diary. Your post has re assured me that I am in the right frame of mind. Thanks a million..
I had a visit from the Neo Natal unit social worker. She was so so supportive & wanted to make sure DH & I were coping. She was happy that DH & I are in a good space. She also informed me of a group that meets here on level 9 every Wednesday at 1pm. They are all women that are in the same situation as me. It's a chance to get to meet others that are going through the same thing & we can support each other. Considering i'll be here for another few weeks yet, I think it's a good idea that I join this group.
I haven't had the chance to surf BB yet to find the premie section here but will certainly do that in the next few days... Thank god for wireless broadband.
-
The Mater is fantastic too - you are in excellent hands. Sorry, I just assumed you were at the RBWH. I was private too but in the RBWH - it was nice having my own space - you need it when you are there for an extended time! ;) I am not sure if there is a Ronald Macdonald House on the Southside of Brissy. I would think there would be???
I didn't have a lap top when I was in hospy - I am glad you have it will keep you in touch with everyone and will let you know how supported you are by everyone here and "out there"!
Take good care, if I can do anything please let me know.
-
Georgi,
I think the closest Ronald McDonald house is the one that FlowerChild is talking about, Garrick Terrace right behind the Royal Women's Hospital.(in Herston) It would only be a 10min drive from Mater in reasonably good traffic flow.
If it helps, here is there number to save you looking it up 07 3257 0328.
to find out how it all works here is the website for you as a quick link
Ronald McDonald House - Herston
 you're doing so great Georgi. xx
-
i have never talked to you but i hope your bubs can hold on a bit longer for you
-
Thanks for that Ren, Youngmum & Flowerchild.
Well I had a shocking sleep again last night. I kept waking up to every trickle wondering whether there would be another big gush. Although I filled a pad, I didn't have another big water break.
Still no signs of labour.
The antibiotics I am taking make me feel sick & weary.
I have written all about my water breaking experience, thus far, in my blog if anyone wants to, or has the time (it's long) to read it.
I'm loving having the internet on!
-
Georgi you are a trooper, goodluck and i hope that bubs stays put for a bit longer.
Thinking of you
Nikki
-
Good luck, Georgi - I've only just discovered this thread. Glad you're somewhere that provides such great care. Hope your bub holds on as long as possible  - must be keen to try out all his new things! 30 at your baby shower! How lovely!
Take care, Georgi and soak up all the positive vibes winging their way to you from all us BB-ers! :D
-
Sorry you had a bad night last night hun. I cant seem to find your blog. How can I get to it?
-
i cant view your blog georgi.. says i dont have privlidges.
-
I must have done it right then Hollye, as that is what it said to me. I thought I did something wrong.
-
Hi Georgi
Just wanted to send you some "Stay where you are Bubba" vibes and "Keep growing Big, healthy and Strong" vibes - here's hoping your little man can stay put for a while longer.
Good Luck with it all - I'm sure that everything will be fine - stay positive
-
Hi I just wanted to drop in and say a huge good luck!
The Mater is fantastic!!
Also to let you know there is a Ronald McDonald House just across the road from the Mater (Behind one of the car parks, near Vulture Street) definately ask one of the social workers and they should be able to sort you out :)
-
Hey Georgi,
Keep your chin up,
I know it can be a horrible to be stuck in hospital and especially with the onset of labor due to coming knocking at anytime.
Takecare and look after yourself, we're all thinking of you!

Ok girls... I think I fixed the blog issue. I ticked a few boxes. Can you try again & let me know....
I have some GREAT news.....
I requested a well being ultra sound this morning & they got me in straight away..... This is how the results came back
He is measuring perfect for his gestation (weighing 1862g / 4lbs) & presents in the head down position. The placenta is NOT low. The fetal biometry & amniotic fluid volume are both in the normal range for gestation (Obviously my body is doing well to re produce the fluid considering how much I am losing).
The umbilical cord is functioning perfectly & the cervix appears closed & no funnelling is seen.
His head is very low down which is not common for this gestation, though considering the cervix is not funnelling, we aren't too concerned about it.
So all in all we are travelling great guns & there is definately no labour signs here.
We're praying to make it to the 34 week mark & this ultra sound has certainly given us the hope.
We'll continue to keep you all informed.
Once again, thank you all for your support. Your posts are so warming & encouraging.
-
Hi,
What a time you are going through.
You sound so positive, which is excellent.
Excellent news on the scan today.
Just wanted to offer my support to you.
I hope baby cooks a bit longer :)
-
Georgi - That is the best news. I am so happy the scan went well. That is such a hopeful sign that your little man will continue to stay nice and comfy where he is. So hoping he likes it that much that he will stay well after 34wks. Lots of
-
That's great news Georgi! Sounds like you're body is doing exactly what it should be.
-
Georgi!! That's awesome hun!!!  YAY!!! Great news to hear.... I'm so glad.... :D
See you tomorrow chick ;)
I'll message you with a time in the morning so you know to expect me!
-
REN Looking so forward to it
JODI Thanks. I do feel like my body is working appropriately
CSAB Imagine if I last till 37wks. That'd be great wouldn't it. I'm not that confident though
KRISTI Thanks so much. I was just looking through your belly buddies thread, wondering if I should drop in to say hello, but I thought It would be best to not get into that frame of mind. Hoping to hold out into Sept at least
The Ob on duty come to see me this morning. He went through my scan results & said all is good. He said 50% of people in my situation will still continue to deliver within the next 7 days. The pressure of the baby's head being so low, can still cause the cervix to start funnelling. So let's pray i'm in that other 50%, which I am confident I will be.
I finally had a full nights sleep last night. Went to bed at 10.30 & woke up at 5.30am. I must've been out cold cause the midwife said she came into my room twice (to take my obs) & both times I was sleeping sound so she didn't want to disturb me.
Bub has been moving around like crazy so I know he is happy in there.
-
Georgi - Morning hun, I have to say it would be soooo awesome for you to make it that far. I am still going to hold onto some hope that you will especially with all the water you have lost and to still have within normal limits around bubs. Yet even getting past 34weeks would be soooo wonderful hun. Also each day that goes by with your little man staying inside is a bonus. BTW excellant news once again. Has anymore water leaked?
-
YES! That's excellent news, Georgi!!!
Your body is like a machine, doing all the right things. Just keep doing what you're doing, because clearly you know best!!
-
KURAIZA Yep, I feel like my body is doing the right thing. I have faith in it
CSAB I am leaking pretty much continuously, but luckily I haven't had a big break since Thursday morning. The Ob has told me that with the bub being so low, over my cervix, he could be stopping some of the fluid from coming out. So I guess there's a good chance I can have another huge gush
Here's a snipet from my blog about our NICU tour today. It was great!
We had a tour of the Intensive Care Unit today. I was great to see where our little man is likely to end up. We had a nurse show us around & he explained the process & what generally happens in there. He took us straight to a little boy who was about a week old & was born at 31weeks. He was 1500g, so small, so so cute. It was amazing to see what size my bub could be inside me. Although he seemed so small, it was hard to believe my bub, in my tummy, is that big. Then he took us to the 27week premie, and oh my, that hit home. She was tiny. Just 700g. So amazing to see this little baby alive in this outside world.
DH was great through it all as he pushed me in my wheelchair. He's so strong & confident. I think he is the reason I can be strong. We just know everything will be ok.
My sister was with us too, but she didn't handle it well. She has 3 babies (3yo, 2yo & 1yo) and started tearing up at the 1st baby we saw. When we got to the little 27weeker, she had to back off. DH & I were good though.
I'm still confident we have at least another week. My first milestone is to get to 32 weeks next Tuesday. Seeing that little boy has made me realise it's not that bad. He was no where near as little as that little girl.
-
praying your little one stays put for alittle longer.your scan sounds very good.
-
BETTYBOOP Thanks for dropping in. Congrats on your BFP. Sending you many sticky vibes
Not too much to report here. I'm just waiting for the Ob to drop in so I can get something for this stuffed up nose I have. It's terrible. This air con is taking it's toll.
I'm 31+5 today so am looking forward to hitting 32wks on Tuesday. I'll just feel so much better once I get to 32wks. Then I'm going to be looking forward to 34wks. Geez I hope I can hang out till then, that way bub should be right to breathe on his own & he'll only need to be tube fed for a week or so.
I can't believe this is my 5th day in hospital. I've never been in hospital before. Only when I had the D&C last Oct, but I didn't even stay overnight. It has gone real quick. You'd think it'll drag on, but no... I'm pretty comfortable. This internet is definately keeping me company. The midwives always stay for a little chat when they are doing my obs too. So that gives me some social life lol.
Renstar came to visit yesterday. She bought me some mags & some beautiful body wash. Oh & some choccies... yummo!
My dad is coming to visit today too. I kinda feel bad having them travel over an hour to visit me. And once they get here it's just so boring.
-
Georgi, you're doing so well!! I'm glad you're feeling so comfortable there, must be a good team at the Mater. Hope you get something for your nose. Mine's been driving me mad for weeks so I've been using saline sprays and steaming and "breathe easy" essential oils in the bedroom - I know how you're feeling in that regard. Hard to sleep when you can't breathe!
 for Renstar visiting and bringing all those goodies! Perfect! And it's great that your dad can visit you, it will take your mind off things for a bit at any rate :D
Tuesday's milestone is looking safe, fingers crossed (and everything else) for the 34-week target!
-
Hi Georgi,
So glad your little man is hanging on in there! Hope you're still getting some good sleep and resting up well.
xoxoxox
-
Hey Georgi  So good to see you yesterday you are doing so well and so positive so keep it up! :)
Hope you're enjoying those mags!! That should help pass the time for a bit anyway.
It was so exciting seeing your little man moving around your belly and i got to feel his back it was just amazing!! I've never had that experience before! :D
I tell you what though, it took me about half an hour to find the car!! :cryinglaugh: That hospital is HUUUUGE!! Good luck finding your way out when it's time to leave  hopefully someone will be helping you out anyway!! it's just a big hospital! Have you had your room upgraded yet?? Room with a view? Hope so!!
Glad your Dad is coming up to see you today. Enjoy the company.
I'll check up on you tomorrow via BB xxo
-
My internet was down yesterday :( But i'm back in action now!
I had another fairly big water break yesterday but my Obs not too concerned. He was really happy about my ultra sound results and has indicated there's a good chance I'll hang in there another 2 weeks. That'd be great!
It's my 6th day in here today so it's looking like i'm on the better side of that 50%. I'll be 32 weeks tomorrow..... I'm telling myself that I WILL be here for another 2 weeks before I get transferred back to Pindara at 34weeks. Then I'll be more inclined to 'let go'
At my observation check at 12 today the midwife found bubs heartbeat to drop quite low for a minute or so. It went back up again but she ordered me on the CTG just in case. Everything was fine of course.
I had a visit from the Neo Natal Social Worker. They have a weekly meeting for the ladies here in the hospital that are hospitalised for lengthy periods of time. It's on every wednesday & the mothers get together to share experiences & support each other. She asked if I wanted to go & I said why not... It's not like i'm too busy or have got anything better, or anything at all, to do.
RENSTAR Thanks for the mags, choccies & body wash. Oh, & of course your company. We always have too much to talk about
AMBER I'm certainly resting up but unfortunately can't sleep. This air con is killing my sinus
KERRIE Hey! I asked my Ob today if he'd get me something for my sinus & he said he would but i'm still waiting. I hope it gets here before I go to bed tonight so I can sleep. I've been using the saline spray too but it's doing jack sh**
-
Georgi! You're online!!
You definitely should get your DH to buy you a vaporiser/steriliser next time he's at the shops. Did you ask the MW if they are allowed first? Will help clear your nose.
That meeting on Weds sounds like it will be a great way to meet other Mum's in the same position as you and you may even make some great friends out of it! Some of them may be from the GC also!
Way to go, keep up the good work..... you'll be at Pindara in 2 weeks and then be able to have bubs! xx
-
Georgi - so glad your are doing so well hun and bub is hanging in there brilliantly! What troopers you both are. I hope you can get something sorted out for your sinuses too hun! xoxo
-
Yay.. The antihistamines arrived. They've prescription ones so I guess they must be good. I hope this means I'll get a good nights sleep.
DH just left :( I miss not being able to look after him. I feel sorry for him having to work, and travel to see me and do my washing. He's so tired.
TANSTAR Thanks. I'm wondering how your appointment went today?
RENSTAR Yeah I reckon Wednesday's meeting would be good. The midwives tell me they get heaps of patients from the Gold Coast. Yep, i'll definately feel more relaxed once I get back to Pindara. I can feel myself holding on. I'll check bout vapouriser
-
Why good morning alll....
I had a fairly decent nights sleep last night. I didn't get up once to go to the toilet. I had a fair leak (sorry tmi) overnight but no big gushes thankfully.
The midwife woke me at midnight to give me an antihistamine & do my Obs (which were fine), then she was back, waking me again, at 6.30am for the same. Grr.... I was sleeping so well too.
The antihistamines are slowly starting to work. I could breathe a little which is probably why I had a decent nights sleep.
I had a bit of an episode last night. I was reading some birth stories on the lil premmies website & upset myself. I was being so positive that everything will be alright, and I know it will, but I also now realise that it will probably be harder than what I am expecting. I just have concerns for my boy, what if he has problems learning, hearing or seeing, or what if there's complications like cerebal palsy??? I know what will be will be & we'll love him no matter what but I must admit I'm a little more scared than I thought I was.
Anyway.. Another day.. 32 weeks today, yipee yipee yay yay!
-
hi just want to give you some positive thoughts to think about 12 yrs ago my mum gave birth to a baby girl at 24 weeks she was in nicu for 3 months tubed feed for 2 months but 12 yrs later i have a little sister with not 1 problem they warned mum that she mite have problems and stuff but nope all fine just though i would share my mums story and let you they are really little fighters all the way and alot of them dont have problems hope that helped in any way  my son wanted to give you that
-
