Congratulations on getting to 32 weeks :) You are doing so well (and so is bub). Have a good day today at the meeting.
Thanks so much girls.
YOUNGMUM - That's exactly what I needed to hear. Thanks for your input, and thank your son for his hug
well done little man - keep in there for a little while!
Georgi - I was masssively premmie, about 30 weeks. And I'm just fine ;) It'll be hard, not a doubt, but just a different hard to every other new baby born. And then when you have the next one (if you want!) then that'll be hard too, cause you'll have a little man at your feet.
*hugs*
Enjoy the Mater while you're there, good to see you in a brill hospital.
Glad to see your little boy is still safely tucked inside.
There is no doubt that being a premmie and mothering a premmie are really tough jobs. At 32 weeks though I think most specialists would be confident that he will be fine.
Just so you understand - hearing and sight are most affected by babies that are on high levels of oxygen for extended periods. This mostly happens with very premmie babies - babies born under 30 weeks are often intubated and often have an oxygen requirement to stop them "desaturating" (stopping their o2 levels dropping too low). At 32 weeks most bubbies don't have the extended problem of this, your baby may not even require cpap - just the humidicrib and low level oxygen.
To give you an idea... Imogen was in 30% o2 for 449 hours and on cpap for a total of 1267 hours. That's at 28 weeks. She spent a total of 60 days in NICU and then a further 28 in special care Imogen has had her hearing and her sight constantly monitored and all looks perfect. :)
I didn't read anything. I know it's important to be informed but I didn't want any sad stories. I was blessed to be looked after by a beautiful midwife who delivered her first child a son at 26 weeks and he is now a 13 year old dux of the school. That story I clung to with everything I had. I visualised constantly taking my baby home, I visualised her at home in the sunshine, sleeping safely with her family. Try to do this - it really helps.
Express as soon as you can after birth. Colostrum is very very important for premmies.
Your baby has the best odds of being healthy and happy - you are doing everything to ensure his health and safety. You are already a fabulous beautiful Mama.
Stay strong. Sending you lots of strength and love.
ETA: I just noticed that your due date is my Imogens 1st birthday!
Flowerchild - your story moved me  i got tingles all over..... Georgi is so lucky having you here for support.
Georgi - /:hug: you are doing wonderfully.....your little man is doing wonderfully and you will both get through this and come out the other end even stronger than you were to start with. It's okay to have a cry and get upset, i would be aswell for sure. It's probably going to be a big rollercoaster of emotions for you and Scott over the next few weeks in particular. And you have probably been in a little bit of denial without even knowing it iywkim? now reality is sinking in slowly but that's normal.... Here for you anytime. xxx and YAY! 32wks!! Go girl!!
ps ask the MW do they do a laundering service for $5 a week or so? Some hospitals do this for patients who are staying for weeks.... just ask them ,may be worth it and save your DH some time and energy. One less thing for both of you to have to worry about....
Well done Georgi on making it to 32 weeks!! You sound like you're doing well and keeping your spirits up, very proud of you!! You're going to be a great mummy no matter if it's a bit tough at the start or not!
yay for 32 weeks:pray::dance:
Yayy 32weeks!! thats such a great milestone for you to have reached well done, onwards and upwards!
i feel responsible for you getting upset, i told you about that site im very sorry.
thats one thing i didnt get to in hospital was a laptop & internet, just as i was organising all sorts of gadgets and gizmo's to by my time was when Nixon decided it was time to arrive. So in a way i didnt know much about the journey ahead either, besides a tour of nicu & some slight knowledges of a fellow BBer who's boy was born at 27weeks.
and I've also just realised that your EDD is my second's sons 1st birthday, flowerchild ddnt realise Imogen is on the same day too! Tyron was my FT bub though but he was born at 11.59am just 3 mins before her
Congrats for making it to 32 weeks
I'm glad you're getting some sleep now!
It's so wonderful your little man is staying put, he must be a very smart boy indeed!
Only a couple of weeks now and you will back in the wonderful world of Pindara :)
xoxox
Hi Georgi,
I have been keeping an eye on your posts.
Well done on making it to 32 weeks your doing a great job.
Great news on making it to 32 weeks! Hopfully bub stays put a while longer so you can transfer back.
Woo! Go 32 weeks!!
Just remember, it doesn't just get better week by week, it gets better every day.
Awww girls your posts are so encouraging. Thank you all so much, it really does make a huge difference. Your kind words always make me smile.
I'm feeling much better again now. I guess I'll have these moments and I accept that.
KAZBAH Yeah you're right & I know I'll just deal with it. And yes, the Mater is awsome. DH wants me to stay here even after 34 weeks cause they're so good
FLOWERCHILD Once again your post has given me some relief. Thanks so much for your encouraging words.
NICKERS No need to be sorry... Thanks for giving me the link to that site. It's really good to know there is that type of support out there. I probably would've stumbled across it anyway. I read your birth story, it's beautiful and encouraging
RENSTAR Yep, I think you're right. The reality of it just kinda set in. Much better now though
SARAH, BETTY, AMBER, TAN, KURAIZA & ANTHEIA Thank you, thank you, thank you.
My darling DH came early today. They let him out of work an hour early so he could spend more time with me. How nice is that. He seemed alot more rested today. He was really tired yesterday. I think he's getting into a little routine now. He works up here in Brisbane so it's not too hard for him to get here. He's also gone to the local take aways and picked up their menus so it's easy for him to sort out his dinner. He's doing such a good job.
I seemed to have a medium fluid loss today. I'm praying that my body is still reproducing it at a good rate.
Bub is moving heeeaps. I'm pretty confident he's having a good time in there.
Hey Georgi - I can't believe it, I go to Melb for a week - come home and your in hosp!! I'll have to start keeping a closer eye on my Oct belly buddies... lol
Wow, you are being so strong, hang in there darl, sounds like your little man is still happy in there.
Thought I'd let you know - I met my new little neice while away, she is now 5 wks old - born at 31.5wks :) she's at home now and doing wonderfully. My SIL's waters broke (at 31.5wks) and she started contracting almost straight away, so they rushed her to hosp and she had 2 steroid injections before bub was born. Little Maddi was 4lbs born, and she is now 5lb4 :)
Congrats on getting to 32wks! Now just try and sleep as much as you can ;)
All the best darl
mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmwah georgi! *runs up and gives you a huge hug*.... u know i wuv you!!! :) lol
SNEAKY Thanks hun. I did see your thread about that. So glad she's doing great
HOLLYE Mmmmwwaaahhhh
I was having a great sleep last night until the midwife woke me at 2am to check my temp & BP... Grrrrr. I couldn't get back to sleep after that. Plus I tossed & turned for the rest of the morning. It doesn't matter, I'll have some naps today anyway.
I have that meeting today. At 1pm. Where some of the patients get together for support & to chat. I'm not real sure what to expect but hey, it's not like I've got much else to do.
Im 32+1 today, yay. It does feel like each day is a milestone. I'm still feeling lucky that I'll get to 34 weeks, maybe even a bit longer. I don't get many braxton hicks anymore so that should be a good sign.
Today is my 8th day since my waters broke. I'll feel much better once I hit the 14 day mark. The Ob at Pindara gave me 2weeks, but I'll prove him wrong.
Morning Georgi!!
Keep up the great work  Enjoy your meeting today with the other girls. I reckon it'll be great! xx
TICK, another day down whoo hoo!!
yay proove that dr wrong! my OB said i COULD last 4 weeks but reckoned i would have bub the night i came in, i baked him for 5 days longer so felt good i did better than what he expected!
i went to one of those meetings when Nixon was just born in nicu, so you might get to meet some mums that have already had their bubs and others who are holding out each day like you. either way you'r all going through the same and its so good to have support like that from the ppl who understand the most.
The meeting was cancelled today. There were only going to be 3 of us but the others couldn't make it. They ended up introducing me to one lady who came in my room & we had a big chat. She's really nice. She's been in here for 3 weeks with Placenta Previa. She's also 32 weeks (33 on Friday) & is also from Pindara Hospital. She works close to where I live & she lives only 10mins away from my home. This is also her first baby & she is also having a boy. So we had plenty in common. She said her days have gone so fast & it doesn't feel like she's been here that long. But she also has lots of friends who live local so she's getting heaps of visitors. She'll be back to Pindara next Friday so at least I have a friend for just over a week lol.
I have been feeling off today. I can't explain exactly what it is, just off. I thought I'd been getting mild period pain too but the midwife said it could be ligaments, from everything stretching down there. Phew! I was wondering if it was the start of labour.
My sinus is still pretty stuffed up. I stopped taking the antihistamines cause they made me feel real drowsy & weren't doing much more. I have this nasal spray now which seems to have helped a tad. I'm told it'll take a couple of days to kick in.
DH has been to visit. He got here about 2.30pm & left around 7pm.
Another day down... Yay.
hope you have a better sleep tonight, hope your day is going ok.
Thanks Betty.
32wks + 2 days today.. Yay! Today is my 9th day since my waters broke. The Ob at Pindara said I WILL have this baby within 2 weeks. So the countdown, to prove him wrong, is on. 5 days to go. I guess that's a closer milestone to achieve. Then I'll focus on getting to 34 wks.
You go girl!!!!! Prove those Dr's wrong!!! :) Glad you made a friend too hun!
Fantastic!! Well done on getting past 32 weeks.
woohoo 32+2!!!!!! u make me oohhh sooo proud :D
awsome u made a friend too. It will be good to talk to someone who is sorta going through the same thing.
mwah xoxoxo
Hi there Georgie girl...... :hello: Sorry havent been on for a while. So proud of you and your little man hun, you both are doing really well. Have everything crossed that you do prove that Dr wrong. Have a lot of faith in you. Great to hear you have someone to chat with and relate to while in hospital and wonderful that you both come from the same area. We are all :cheer::cheer::cheer: ing you on.
Georgi,
I have no doubt that you'll prove him wrong!:)
Hang on in there bubs!
Congrats on finding a friend who lives so close!
Keep your chin up, you've got all of us for life long friends, I'm sure each one of us wishes we could be there to keep you company!
Keep your chin up and look after yourself!
Snoopea
Hi Georgi, just wanted to pop in and wish you all the best. All that positive thinking and great care has gotten you to this point and I hope the next 5 days goes just as well.
just wanted to pop in & wish you the best of luck..i am thinking of you & your little bubs
*HUGS*
You are doing so well Georgi! That little boy is getting stronger with every hour he is inside you.
Goodluck Georgi, keep strong and stay put bubs!!
Bub is measuring a great size, and the longer he can stay put the more weight he will put on, it's a bit slower on the outside!
I am so glad they were able to stop your labour, when my waters broke and we got to the hospital 1.5 hours later (had a lot of trouble getting in to a hospital that night and we weren't worried as contractions didn't start until 45 mintues after waters had broken)!! I was 7-8cm dialated and contractions 3 min appart so no going back for me!!
But all has worked out really well, bubs is doing great, 11 days in SC, they can be real fighters, everyday inside counts.
The MW's were great, teaching me how to hand express, then moving onto the pump, every drop counts, I was almost in tears if I spilt a drop
There is also plenty of support online for mums with premmies, it can be a pretty stressful time, as it can be halpful chatting to mums who have been through the same thing and understand the differences in milestones, can give you info on what you may expect etc. PM me if you need to chat or any of the links.
Goodluck and prove them all wrong!! :grouphug:
Good Luck Georgi :) Prove those dr's wrong!
Awwww, shux... You girls are so encouraging & supportive. Thank you all so much.
VIC I'll definately PM you once my bub arrives & get some tips & links
Georgi,
That's a shame the meeting was cancelled, but so good you got to have a chat with the other lady in there! And she only lives 10mins from you! :)
Perhaps you'll see her again at Pindara when you have your little man there.....
Keep up the great work!!
What did the MW's say about using a vaporiser?? Trust me, it's the best thing for my nose....
ps I'll have to go baby shopping without you this weekend ;) hehe
How are you today Georgi??? You are never far from my thoughts my love.
I hope you're doing alright and your little man stays put.
Make the doctor eat his words.
Best wishes
xx
wooohooo for 32+3 :D
Hey Georgi,
How did your OBs go today?? :)
Hope bub is still tucked away safe inside you. Well done on getting this far!
Georgi,
Thinking of you, hope you and bubs are ok and bubs is still hanging in there!
