My internet was down yesterday But i'm back in action now!

I had another fairly big water break yesterday but my Obs not too concerned. He was really happy about my ultra sound results and has indicated there's a good chance I'll hang in there another 2 weeks. That'd be great!

It's my 6th day in here today so it's looking like i'm on the better side of that 50%. I'll be 32 weeks tomorrow..... I'm telling myself that I WILL be here for another 2 weeks before I get transferred back to Pindara at 34weeks. Then I'll be more inclined to 'let go'

At my observation check at 12 today the midwife found bubs heartbeat to drop quite low for a minute or so. It went back up again but she ordered me on the CTG just in case. Everything was fine of course.

I had a visit from the Neo Natal Social Worker. They have a weekly meeting for the ladies here in the hospital that are hospitalised for lengthy periods of time. It's on every wednesday & the mothers get together to share experiences & support each other. She asked if I wanted to go & I said why not... It's not like i'm too busy or have got anything better, or anything at all, to do.

RENSTAR Thanks for the mags, choccies & body wash. Oh, & of course your company. We always have too much to talk about

AMBER I'm certainly resting up but unfortunately can't sleep. This air con is killing my sinus

KERRIE Hey! I asked my Ob today if he'd get me something for my sinus & he said he would but i'm still waiting. I hope it gets here before I go to bed tonight so I can sleep. I've been using the saline spray too but it's doing jack sh**

    Georgi! You're online!!

You definitely should get your DH to buy you a vaporiser/steriliser next time he's at the shops. Did you ask the MW if they are allowed first? Will help clear your nose.

That meeting on Weds sounds like it will be a great way to meet other Mum's in the same position as you and you may even make some great friends out of it! Some of them may be from the GC also!

Way to go, keep up the good work..... you'll be at Pindara in 2 weeks and then be able to have bubs! xx

Yay.. The antihistamines arrived. They've prescription ones so I guess they must be good. I hope this means I'll get a good nights sleep.

DH just left I miss not being able to look after him. I feel sorry for him having to work, and travel to see me and do my washing. He's so tired.

TANSTAR Thanks. I'm wondering how your appointment went today?

RENSTAR Yeah I reckon Wednesday's meeting would be good. The midwives tell me they get heaps of patients from the Gold Coast. Yep, i'll definately feel more relaxed once I get back to Pindara. I can feel myself holding on. I'll check bout vapouriser

    Why good morning alll....

I had a fairly decent nights sleep last night. I didn't get up once to go to the toilet. I had a fair leak (sorry tmi) overnight but no big gushes thankfully.

The midwife woke me at midnight to give me an antihistamine & do my Obs (which were fine), then she was back, waking me again, at 6.30am for the same. Grr.... I was sleeping so well too.

The antihistamines are slowly starting to work. I could breathe a little which is probably why I had a decent nights sleep.

I had a bit of an episode last night. I was reading some birth stories on the lil premmies website & upset myself. I was being so positive that everything will be alright, and I know it will, but I also now realise that it will probably be harder than what I am expecting. I just have concerns for my boy, what if he has problems learning, hearing or seeing, or what if there's complications like cerebal palsy??? I know what will be will be & we'll love him no matter what but I must admit I'm a little more scared than I thought I was.

Anyway.. Another day.. 32 weeks today, yipee yipee yay yay!

well done little man - keep in there for a little while!

Georgi - I was masssively premmie, about 30 weeks. And I'm just fine It'll be hard, not a doubt, but just a different hard to every other new baby born. And then when you have the next one (if you want!) then that'll be hard too, cause you'll have a little man at your feet.

    *hugs*

Enjoy the Mater while you're there, good to see you in a brill hospital.

Glad to see your little boy is still safely tucked inside.

There is no doubt that being a premmie and mothering a premmie are really tough jobs. At 32 weeks though I think most specialists would be confident that he will be fine.
Just so you understand - hearing and sight are most affected by babies that are on high levels of oxygen for extended periods. This mostly happens with very premmie babies - babies born under 30 weeks are often intubated and often have an oxygen requirement to stop them "desaturating" (stopping their o2 levels dropping too low). At 32 weeks most bubbies don't have the extended problem of this, your baby may not even require cpap - just the humidicrib and low level oxygen.
To give you an idea... Imogen was in 30% o2 for 449 hours and on cpap for a total of 1267 hours. That's at 28 weeks. She spent a total of 60 days in NICU and then a further 28 in special care Imogen has had her hearing and her sight constantly monitored and all looks perfect.

I didn't read anything. I know it's important to be informed but I didn't want any sad stories. I was blessed to be looked after by a beautiful midwife who delivered her first child a son at 26 weeks and he is now a 13 year old dux of the school. That story I clung to with everything I had. I visualised constantly taking my baby home, I visualised her at home in the sunshine, sleeping safely with her family. Try to do this - it really helps.

Express as soon as you can after birth. Colostrum is very very important for premmies.

Your baby has the best odds of being healthy and happy - you are doing everything to ensure his health and safety. You are already a fabulous beautiful Mama.

Stay strong. Sending you lots of strength and love.

ETA: I just noticed that your due date is my Imogens 1st birthday!

Flowerchild - your story moved me i got tingles all over..... Georgi is so lucky having you here for support.

Georgi - / you are doing wonderfully.....your little man is doing wonderfully and you will both get through this and come out the other end even stronger than you were to start with. It's okay to have a cry and get upset, i would be aswell for sure. It's probably going to be a big rollercoaster of emotions for you and Scott over the next few weeks in particular. And you have probably been in a little bit of denial without even knowing it iywkim? now reality is sinking in slowly but that's normal.... Here for you anytime. xxx and YAY! 32wks!! Go girl!!
ps ask the MW do they do a laundering service for $5 a week or so? Some hospitals do this for patients who are staying for weeks.... just ask them ,may be worth it and save your DH some time and energy. One less thing for both of you to have to worry about....

So in a way i didnt know much about the journey ahead either, besides a tour of nicu & some slight knowledges of a fellow BBer who's boy was born at 27weeks.
and I've also just realised that your EDD is my second's sons 1st birthday, flowerchild ddnt realise Imogen is on the same day too! Tyron was my FT bub though but he was born at 11.59am just 3 mins before her
