That's not that big at all, there seems to be a big push to label everyone as gd these days with only a short amount of time to go I don't know that I would want the testing done. Dd2 was 3.25kg at 37 weeks with gd and was still in 0000's and tiny.
I'm just a bit confused.i had an ultrasound on Saturday to check for irregular heart beat which was picked up on thurs (all turned out to b fine heart beat wise),however I got a call from the midwife saying that they are concerned with the size of the baby. It measured to b 3kg on the ultrasound.i am 35 weeks and am just not sure if that sounds that big. Could midwives be overreacting or is it a cover their bum thing to send me for this diabetes test so late in pregnancy?

I had a 2.75kg prem at 33 weeks. Definitely no GD as my doctor had accidentally sent me for the long test. Was told later it was a super efficient placenta. (that's good not bad)
Yes it's a little larger than average, but it's not that big.
I don't really know much about it but that weight sounds a little big but still very normal?
I always get confused because I have seen a friend of mine who is 50kg wringing wet give birth to a 9 pound 9 and no GD and yet another friend of mine had GD and her baby was premmie and on the small side?
Thanks for the replies.yes it's all very confusing. I do know I'm carrying more in my belly this time round (last time the weight gain was all over my body).my son was 7pd4oz and was a bit early so maybe this bub will arrive ahead of time too? I have my test on Friday so we will see how it pans out.
GoodluckI'm sure things will be fine. My belly is measuring 3 weeks ahead this time around, but I carried big with DS as well and no GD. I am also carrying all out front this baby, where as DS I was more round.....maybe bub's is a girl

Its worth doing a bit of reading and research on this so you can be prepared and confident. Firstly its important to know that inducing babies where mum has GD does not improve outcomes or reduce incidents of sholder dystocia, it only increases the incidence of caesarean section.
Here are some threads which are in the GD forum, very well worth a read, from very experienced, world famous Obstetrician, Michel Odent and birth attendant and researcher, Henci Goer - I have never met a birth person so well versed in studies or analytical - she gave a talk in the BB centre! In fact, ACOG (American College of Ob/Gyns) does not recommend induction for big babies.

I'm currently refusing to have a scan at 38 weeks as this is what they are trying to say to me. just high BMI due to massive fluid retention but that is another issue. I don't have GD either, Don't stress my bub last time they tried to tell me she was 4.5kg, she was 3.5kg at birth tiny in comparison so I never believe their estimates.
Don't feel pressure to be induced or C/s due to "bubs being big" it is a best guess at most.
Yay tests came back all clear. So I can relax and enjoy the last few weeks of my pregnancy.![]()
That's great news! Enjoy the last few weeks.
