    Growth spurts

Hey all I had a scan last week and the guy told me that my baby was measuring 2.24kg or 5pound 5 ounces, he said at the time that was a good size for my dates and I was happy with that, then this morning my hubbys aunty came over and when I told her that she said oh if you go full term the baby should be about 8 or 9 pounds cause they grow a pound a week!!!! Is this true? I sure hope not my last baby was 6pound 15 ounces and I was quite happy with that lol

    Hi Brianna,

It's possible your baby could end up being an 8 or 9 pounder, though the measurement scans from what I have heard (over and over again) are not very accurate, so I wouldn't worry too much about it I'm sure you could manage a 8 or 9 pounder though

a pound a week is an average. Not every baby grows at this rate.

And no the scans are not accurate. My DD2 was measured by scan to be 10 pound and she came out 3 days later a little less than 9 pound.

dont panic your baby will be just right for you
