Is this happening to anyone else?

    Hi

I am 39w tomorrow and for the past 10 days or so I have started having back pain, lower period type pain and stronger braxton hicks on and off. It seems to be getting worse everyday and I think that surely it can't be too far off, then I go to bed, have bad type pains, think that this could be it, fall asleep and then nothing, wake up the next morning and feel real good (and slightly disappointed).
My ob said that my cervix was 'softened', does anyone know if that is any kind of indication of how long there is to go?
Anyway, hope I am not the only one driving themselves insane
    Thanks

    Julia

yep - know where you are at. I go to bed at night, thinking, for sure, its got to happen soon. But, wake up in the morning, feeling great! So annoyed.
    Dont worry, it will happen!
My obs told me at 37 weeks that my cervix was 50% thinned. Last night it was apparently still not complety 'soft' what ever that means, but, i had started to dilate!.
I did thread not so long ago about the cervix, and from memory, how soft, or thinned it was, still isnt a clear indicator of how far to go. It still varies from person to person.

This has been happening to me for the past few days. I saw my OBS on Wednesday and he did an internal and my cervix was still closed. Later that day I was getting more intense but irregular period like cramping and some pink tinged mucuos but thought that it was probably b/c OBS had a 'look'.
Yesterday I again had on and off cramping and last night from about 9.30pm I started cramping badly, had blood stained mucous. I couldn't sleep, panadol and a heat pack didn't help. I started timing these cramps, which varied from 20 mins, 14 mins and the quickest being 11 mins. Then at about 3.30am this morning, they slowed down and I haven't had cramping since! So frustrating! I really thought I'd be going to the hospital this morning but it must be just pre-labour, so I am assuming that I'll have this baby in the next few days.... I googled to see if there is an indication of how long this could go on for and the only thing I could find was from my ante-natal classes that said pre-labour can be btw 8-16 hours! Ohhh, here is another cramp!

Sounds like you are definitely in pre labour what with blood stained mucous etc. I think pre labour can last for days because I know you can lose the mucous plug and still be days away form labour.

I know exactly what you mean because I wake up most nights with period type pains and pressure but in the mornig feel completely normal! So weird!

I am having the same problem but not the blood but a thick mucus.Went to doctor on Tuesday and was checked.Cervix is softened, whatever that means lol and I have such a horrible pain that shoots down my private area and this horrible back ache and cramps.Last night I had what I thought was a real painful contraction and woke up to nothing but the back ache, pain in private (with like a numbness and flutterin feeling).????????????
