my head cold has turned into a worsening cough, im coughing every minute or so and wheezy- hubby can hear me breathing across the room. have tried ventolin (as I have had asthma in past) and no relief. in the last 24 hours it has gotten a lot worse. Also tried a cough syrup from pharmacist who said it was fine to take while pregnant but no help yet. tried steam, sitting up in bed, lots of fluids.
Im just wondering how long to wait until i do something given its the weekend. normally Id ride this out but im not sleeping and under some stress otherwise so i dont want to get too run down. My next ob appointment is Tuesday and I wont get into my GP until then as she is so busy. There is a 24 hour doctor about an hours drive away or could I call the midwife at the hospital (they probably wont be able to help as they just work at the hospital).
I will wait til tomorrow but if its worse, how bad are chest infections when pregnant and should I see someone or wait til Tuesday.
Hubby thinking I should see someone but I dont know.
Sorry I hope you're feeling better soon! All I can suggest is that you could call 13HEALTH hotline and they can put you onto someone who can help.
Probably best to call the midwife anyway....even if they can't get u in at the hospital they should be able to tell you whether you need to drive to the 24hour dr or if you should just ride it out or what, at least that way you will have done what your hospital wants you to do.
I went to GP Tuesday with the cold- she said I had low grade fever and bp was up from 110/70 to 140/90 but I didnt have the cough then it started Thursday. I guess I will wait til tomorrow morning and if its worse call the midwife. If its better maybe ill ride it out til tuesday.
by the way congrats on bub- I like Noah for a boy too!
I have the exact same thing as you, I feel almost like my breathing is restricted and I it is noisy if that makes sence, I can feel it going right down into my chest as I get that awfull burning pain in my chest after I have coughed,
I remember when I was pg with Grace I had a really bad chest infection and was put onto 2 different vetolins one was in a yellow casing and I was told it was a steroid it tasted like mint and burnt the hell out of my throat and chest each time I had to have it I hated it, and the other one was the regular blue grey one, it took quite a while to get over and it certaibnly got worse before it got better,
having written all of this I think I should also really think of getting into a dr as I dont want it to get much worse than it is, so yeah I say get yourself checked out its better than getting even sicker I think.

I managed to get 5 hours sleep last night and i feel better for that. but still coughing and wheezy although just with the sleep i feel i can manage much better (if that makes sense. My hubby has ordered me to a day on the couch so Ill give in and do that.
Amym we seem to have the same virus dont we! Yeah I agree about not wanting it to get worse- then it drags on so long and is draining. Hope you feel better thismorning.
yeah I think you are ringht about that, it certainly sounds like the same virus to me,
I have felt a little better today but still really drained and tired, my cough is still causing me greif, and all I want to do is go to bed for a week LOL totally impossible hehehe.
I hope this settles down for you too very soon, I have had to give mothers day lunch with my whole family a miss tomorrow as my grandad had an operation in March and I would hate to be responsible for getting him ill so I am just going to do what your hubby suggested to you have a day on the couch oh that sounds like heaven mmmmmmmm.
