At 140/90 your BP is as high as we want to see it. There are a number of things that can send your BP up including stress, anxiety, excitement. I is common for your BP to be higher when you go for a check up because of the above reasons. Your Dr putting you on meds now is being a little over cautious, personally I would have waited until your next visit and after checking your BP would then consider meds. If your BP does not go any higher than 140/90 and you do not have any protein in your urine there is no need to induce you. The meds will not harm you or your baby
