hmm... is this just a false alarm?

    Morning!

I've been having period type pains on and off since early yesterday and since about 1030/11pm I've had sharp pains in my stomach that radiate around to my back. Most of them don't go much higher than my belly button.

They started at about 10-15 mins apart, then at around 1am, I got an hour of sleep, so they must have died off. I was woken at about 1.50 by pains again and ever since they hav been coming every 10 or so minutes, although the last 5 have been between 6-8 mins apart.
Are they regular enough to be contractions? Or probably just BH's?
I live 100kms from the hospital and whilst I am nowhere near ready to go in there, I need to make a decision at the right time. My plan is to head to my Parents place after dropping my son off at the IL's. My folks are 15 minutes from the hospital and that's where I will labour.

I just don't know whether to go and risk it being false, or to stay and give it a few more hours.
What would you do if this sounds like it could be real?
I've not had my show(that I know of) but did lose a small amount of stringy mucous last night.

Arrggh. You'd think it should be easier this time around. LOL

Hmmm, sounds like contractions too me. If things dont slow down I would say head to your folks place. Just time how long it takes to get there so you know how much time you have ,if it is a false alarm, for next time. But by the sounds of things I dont think it will be necessary . Good luck hun, I`ll be looking out for your BA soon

It sounds like things could be starting up. It could possibly be pre-labour too, but it sounds a bit suspicious to me LOL!

Why don't you still drop your DS off and visit your parents to make a day of it regardless? That way you are in the best place if it is the real deal. And if it's not, well, your DS got to spend the day with his grandparents

    Good luck!

Thanks for your replies. I'm still here. These pains have slowed down to once every 30 mins or so now which is a bit dissapointing. Nearly went.

I did lose some mucous plug though not too long ago, so they must have done something.
Here's hoping it won't take too much longer.

    Cheers

If its going to the back, its most likely real. None of the BHXs with my posterior bubs affected my back - only real contractions.

    Hi girls!
So sorry... I tried replying yesterday but it seems every so often it won't work.
I'm still around.... pains died off for hours, but have started up again. Have been trying to ignore them, but they are more painful than yesterday. Now having sharp stabbing pains VERY low down adn having to breathe through them. At this stage they are 10 mins apart again... Who knows how long this will go on for.
I also had a massive loss of plug last night... About the diameter of a 50cent peice, which was streaked a pinky brown.... the slight brown colour makes me think it was nothing but mucous though... is that right?

Anyway, I have an appt today at 11.30 so will probably make that easy, and will see how I go from there. Will have someone update either here or my May thread if I don't make it home.

p.s sorry again for the delay.
