So everywhere I read it says that bub's movement slows down toward the end and is almost non existant just before labour begins and I was wondering how little is to little?
My little one hasnt moved for hours now, not even with me being mean and putting ice packs on my belly, drinking cold water etc. She was quiet active last night though. The 10 movements in an hour thing, is that suppose to be able to be done at any time?
I've had tightenings on and off all day, more this afternoon/tonight so I'm thinking that why she isnt moving much- does that sound normal?
I'm trying to avoid ringing the birthing suites, last time I dealt with them I left in tears, and ofcourse my doppler is out of batteries. I've never been this far in pregnancy so really dont know what to expect.
Bub should be moving at least 10 times a day. I'm on my phone so can't see how far along you are. Bub may slow down but they shouldnt stop for hours. Though sometimes you just cant feel them. You know whats normal for your baby.
Go to hospital and get seen. If you encounter bullies put in a complaint but don't let them put you off being proactive about your baby. With this sort of thing it's totally ok to be worried. Send bub lots of good vibes but go.
If you are concerned you should call the hospital. With my last pg I had the same discussion with my OB about what was 'normal' for movements after I hadn't felt bub move for half a day. His advice was that if it doesn't feel 'normal' to you then get checked. He said each bub is different & so it's impossible for someone to tell you what is normal but a mothers intuition shouldn't be ignored.
I'm sure everything is just fine but call the hospital if you are worried, & make a complaint if you are treated badly, but don't let it put you off calling. Hugs
How is bub today? I would go check it out (and i did a couple times) if bub is unusually quiet. If it's all good, you have only wasted a little bit of time.
You should go and see the hospital. I was told by my midwife that the slowing down prior to labour was a myth. I do not know if this is true as there is lot of conflicting advice and every seems to have a difference opinion. I just know from my experience that bubs did not stop moving and actually I think my movements increased in the last few days.
Definitely get checked, don't worry about what the midwives think . It could just be that your bub has changed positions and you can't feel movement like you were. It's always best to get checked for your own peace of mind.
As per the PP's, if you are worried then get it checked. Bub will move less as labour approaches but lack of movement is a reason to get checked out ASAP. Hopefully you went into labour after posting this and are cuddling your bub just now.
thanks for the replies ladies. I ended up getting checked and after about 3 hours of the longest time in my life they finally put a CTG on and we got a heartbeat.
To say the experience was horrific is an understatement. Some of you said you went in several times to have it checked, did you go the hospital or to your GP? My GP wont see me for any pregnancy related things, and I had such a hard time getting anyone at the hospital to take me seriously. Even after the Dr couldnt find the heartbeat on the doppler he still wanted to sent me home and told me to rest. It was only after a total melt down they said I could have a CTG and it took hours to organise.
She use to be such an active bub, and again today has barely moved. I just dont know when it goes from me being a paranoid pregnant woman to a mother with intuition.
Aww, hugs hun. I'm glad to hear things were ok. Here's hoping she's just quietening down in preparation for birth, some babies do that. She will be earthside soon.
I'm so glad everything is ok, and congratulations to you for baking a full term bubba. Once she is born and everything is settled, please make a complaint against the Dr who wanted to send you home despite no heartbeat on the doppler when you had gone to him rerporting reduced fetal movements. Everything was ok, but if it hadn't been then his decision could have been critical to the health of your baby. You should not have been treated like that.
If this happens again, I would advise you to go straight to birth suite at the hospital and tell a midwife what is happening.
