We are in the process of moving! How much can I safely lift? I am just lifting what is comfortable for me (and taking little shuffle steps!). Is that OK?![]()

Nelliesbelly you must be exhausted with moving! We too are preparing for a big overseas move & in the process of packing. Unfortunately I cant give you any advice - but I have to lift my toddler at times and she weighs 17 kg. I definately dont recommend lifting this much at once but am interested to hear what other people's advice is on lifting. All the best with your move. Sarah![]()
I moved at 38 weeks it's totally exhausting!
Don't lift anything that you have to "think" about lifting. Don't bend over and lift either.
I think it's good for someone to be the supervisor and that someone is youMake sure you offer plenty of snacks and drinks to keep up morale in your team.
Trust me when I say there is more than enough work for you to do. You can clean out the rooms in the old place as stuff is moved out and in the new place there is unpacking duty too. Get your helpers to put the boxes in the spots where they need to be and then set about unpacking.
i posted a thread on this not all that long ago as well. Since my thread, i have lifted some heaver stuff, based on the fact that some peoples where still lifting their toddlers, so, figured me should be able to still lift stuff. I do get a sudden tight bit if i lift to heavy.
But, i have always been a bad lifter - never a bend at the knees personso, i tend to not do so much anyways.
Thanks all
I was thinking how did my Nan do it with 8 kids!
Anyway I did a bit of lifting just what didnt hurt and I was OK. I think Ill stick to unpacking smaller items and directing![]()
thats it. Look at it this way (and we doing extensions right now, and are painting, so constantly moving furniture) - you can play on it abit to. There are not to many times in our lifes when we get the 'luxury' of being able to sit back and give directions, then twaddle off and have a little lie down. So, make the most of it.
