How often did you have a check up from 36weeks to 40?

I'm feeling possibly the stupiest I have in my whole life right now. Had a catch up with my mums group for the first time since before christmas and they asked how I was going at the hospital (having had past problems). I mentioned that the last appt I had was at 36 weeks and the Dr said to come back around my due date. So thats what I'm doing. I even rang the admin to make the appt and they confirmed what the Dr had said. The other mums said that was horribly wrong and I should have had more regular check ups, once or twice a week.

Guess I'm just needing someone to put my mind at ease, to tell me they also only went on their due date.

    TIA

From 36 weeks, I had weekly check ups.

I was also weekly. It was lucky for me they were as it meant my skyrocketing BP was picked up at 37 weeks.

ok now I feel like a total twat of all times to start listening to them. It seemed to make sense to me, as in now I was full term I was low risk so didnt need the constant monitering. If I've put my little girl in any danger I'll never forgive myself. Tomorrow 2pm cant come quick enough.

Honestly I wouldn't be too worried and I doubt you have put your baby in any danger... I had my 36 wk apt and wont be seeing the doc again until the day of my csection... I am going through the public system here and they suggest you see your normal doc but we had only just moved here when I fell pregnant so I don't have a normal doctor and thus I wont have a check up b/w 36 - 40wks. The doc & midwife at the hsp said that's fine and if I have any concerns about baby, movements, if I feel sick etc to just call birth suite and I can go in and have a check up!
There are many, many women who also live in rural area's who cant get in weekly to see a doc...
So please don't stress or feel bad, if your low risk and the doctor was happy to not see you until almost your due date then it should be all good

Don't be too concerned, I am sure you & your bubba are both perfectly fine.
TBH, I find the weekly appts to be a PITA. Even my midwife said I am too healthy! lol. If I could have been on just fortnightly appts, I would have been much happier.

I'm still only on fortnightly appointments. My last ob appointment was 2 weeks ago, the next will be in almost two more weeks when I'm 4 days past my EDD. I have seen my midwife in between though, and we snuck another appointment in for Monday which will be 1.5 weeks since my last visit with her. I'm going through the public system, and have no problems with this. I never have any concerns or many questions at my appointments, everything has been pretty smooth sailing. If I were on weekly appointments it'd be a bit useless I think, my appointments are pretty quick as they are lol.

I agree with TUP, try not to stress or feel bad

Weekly with Ds, but that's because I never got that far with the girls! If you are healthy and happy don't worry.

I saw my OB at 36 weeks and my next appointment was booked for 38 weeks. They said I would normally have one at 37 weeks, but Christmas was in the way, so it didn't happen.

The 38 week appointment didn't happen either as I had my baby the next day. Complete surprise to both me and my OB!

    I went 35, 37, 39, 40, 41. But I sort of got off-sync with my dates somehow. So it would otherwise have been 36, 38, 40, 41.

Thanks for your replies ladies. I just spoke to a friend (who has had 3 bubs through the same hospital I am at) who said ' thought it was strange you werent going in', then proceeded to say she thinks my bump is really small and with all the contractions I've been having dont be suprised if theres a problem tomorrow....hmm thanks for the vote of confidence...nothing I can do now except hope like all hell everything is fine.. off to bed and maybe see if I can get any earlier appt just so I'm not stressing all day.

Thanks Limeslice - I was thinking surely at this point if something was wrong, I would notice - wouldnt I? Thats what I thought the whole low-risk thing was about. I actually think the last few weeks has been great without seeing any Dr's to stress me about going for my VBAC. Its really given me and DP time to focus on a natural birth, not a birth after a c/s. Still having some really strong contractions, been a few days now, so fingers crossed I might not even need the appt tomorrow lol can only hope

i dont think i will go weekly. im 36 weeks now and il go next week to see my GP. then an app at the hospital, but as long as everything is ok at those apps i doubt il go again till im 40 weeks. my GP said that is didnt need to goin as often as some as im so low risk. ithink it was ment to ever other week the last few months but ive only gone in once on her recomendation. i prefer not going in all the time, just to be poked around, but im sure it depends on the person! im sure you DD will be just fine! hope the appointment puts your mind at ease!....or you have her before your appointment, and ignore what your friend said, if she was so knowledgeable then you wouldnt need to go to the docs atall as she could just tell you whats going on
