I have been experiencing BH for a while now, but over the last few days they have been increasing +++ in frequency and duration (i.e. 30+ secs in duration at least 4-5 times per hour). Yesterday I started to get some lower pelvic/abdo pain with them (only v.v. slight though - wouldn't really call it painful) and lower back ache.
I guess I'm grasping at straws because I am so desperate to get this baby out of me that I'm thinking about reaching up there and pulling it out myself? Does anyone think that this increasing frequency et. may be a sign of labour beginning relatively soon>
This is what happened to me!
Except my pre-labours stretched over about 2-3 weeks.
When the BH were 10minutely for 8 hours then 5 minutely then i called the hospital.
They werent severly painful at that stage though (so dont judge on pain) just uncomfy like i couldnt find the right spot to lay in - the back pain and period pain was there!
Thanks everyone - I know not to get my hopes up, I've still got a couple of weeks, but I swear they are starting to feel like the longest two weeks of my life!!
Everyone here is so helpful, I don't know what I'd do without all of you!!
wow - i was going to post the exact same question.
Have been getting loads of little BH, just little cramps in the front, constantly, at times, i would say more then 4 - 5 times in an hour, at one stage this morning, prob that many in 30min, but then, it settles back down to not as many.
No lower back ache or anything, so am not majorly concerned, but, yeah, wondering how much of a sign it is of things to happen soon.
Good luck Kylie, you only a few days behind me
Hi everyone. I've been getting BH the past couple of months, but they have become a lot more regular and stronger the last month or so, ie. I get them many times during the day and night.
I woke this morning around 3am and was getting them every 8 minutes or so - not painful, but they make me feel breathless and like my head is going to explode. I finally went back to sleep at around 6am.
As I've been getting them quite frequently, I normally wouldn't be concerned except that I had a brown mucusy 'show' yesterday morning after going for a walk. I don't think it was a mucus plug, more like the end of my monthlies. Am also feeling bored with everything, and am emotional (had a cry just now) & just want labour to start. I am 39wks & 2 days & due this Friday. Is this pre-labour? Any thoughts?
Hey sounds like a show to me Sharry! My MW said it mite b like that or mucousy.
Unfortunately 4 me my BH also consist of backache (been getting that 4 over a month now) as I have an irritable uterus. Certainly made labour seem quicker last time tho!
Okay, so what happens if you're getting BH that feel like period pains - they radiate through my back too - and you're 34 weeks? There is no pattern to them and I haven't timed them either but they stop me while I'm having them. Quite ouchy and can be brought on by increased physical stuff - walking etc.
Hi everyone! Sorry I haven't replied, but I went into labour early Monday morning and my daughter Charlotte Rose was born that afternoon.... sooo it WAS pre labour! I was 5 days early.
Looking back I had a few signs, being: increasing BH, bloody show 2 days prior to waters breaking, emotional and despondent the day before delivery, frequent bowel motions for a week or two prior, AND the swelling in my feet & ankles actually went away for the 2-3 days prior to delivery (unfortunately, it's back with a vengence! hopefully should be gone within a week or so).
