hey ,
i had a planned c section with my son and what i would recommend is
pj's that open at the front
alot of maternity pads, even tho ur having a c section u bleed alot
underwear that sit above ur cut(way above lol)
those maternity bra insert things to help with milk leakage lol
and just loose fitting comfy clothes
for bub yeah well my son had to throw up on everything i put on him so i think its a smart idea to take a couple lol
I found on the 1st night a nighty was great. I still had the catheter in and I didn't want to be in the hospital gown!
Just buy undies a size too big so that they go over your waist, and as long as your pj pants are high, they shouldn't irritate your cut..
I bled heaps for about 5 days, so would reccomend maternity pads, and breast pads as you will leak when your milk comes in.
I prefered to use my own clothes on bub.. Mum or DH took the dirty ones home each day for washing and brought clean ones down.. Nappies - if you feel you are running out of the hospital supplied ones you can always get DP to bring some..
Can't help with the CSection bit, but I did have an epidural last time and before they took me up to the room I changed into a nightie that could button down the front (so I could breastfeed) and being a night shirt the tubes from the cathetar could just hang down. The cathetar comes out after a while (mine was in overnight) and then I could wear pj bottoms for the rest of the stay.
At my hospital they encourage you to wear day clothes during the day (not pjs) so wearing comfy things that will enable you to feed, relax but also receive visitors.
As the hospital provides everything for baby during the stay you don't need to bring anything. BUT you may want to dress baby into some of his new clothes that you will have been buying. Just remember you have to wash them when you get home and why do more washing than you have to. Also I have heard that sometimes home clothes get lost in the hospital system and you won't get them back. You could pack a few choices of going home clothes. But, most likely you'll change baby from their hospital clothes into their going home outfit and you'll be going home soon after that.
Nappies - our hospital provided Huggies (which are mostly thought of as the best). Again, your hospital will tell you if you need to bring them from home. Sometimes you need to try a few brands out before you find the ones that fit baby best.
Toiletries - again our hospital provided wipes and some sorbelene cream. I personally wouldn't bring any toiletries as you don't know if bubs is going to have a reaction to them and I think the midwifes generally recommend just washing bubs in plain water or a very mild soap to start with.
There are some threads on BB that list what you could take in your hospital bag. HTH.
