I would head of to the hospital to make sure its amniotic fluid as if it has being for a few days there is a risk of infection to you and your baby. If so you will need antibiotics and possibly labour augmented (speed up) at our hospital the policy is antibiotics 18hours after ruptured membranes if the waters have broekn to avoid infection. I'd get checked out just to make sure or at least call the hospital for some advise or the place you intend on birthing.

go and get it checked out.

My waters broke at 37weeks with #1 went into the hospital to have it confirmed and was admitted. A week later they finally decided to induce me as i had an infection.

blayne, you need to get checked out. It is not safe to assume that all will be well because you dont want an induction. The hosp wont do anything unessesary, but if you are leaking amnio fluid, you need to be seen. Please get yourself checked... x x

its not that i dont want to be induced i cant be, so if i am leaking ill have a c section, which doesnt really bother me at all but i have been told sooo many diff things when it comes to amnio fluid, first its clear with no smell , then its clear and smells sweet, then its pink tinged i just dont know, i live 90 mins away fromt he hospital and dont have anyone to get me there plus i have a 4 yr old and with my hospital u r not aloud ot take children into the birthing unit

If your waters have broken technically your labour has sort of started so you would be augmented not induced (induced is when nothing is happening sort of) augmented is sped along. It really depends on the hospital your birthing at but many places are happy to induce or augment with a prior C/S especially if things are favourable (meaning your ready to go which you probably are if your waters in deed have broken). Smaller places are often not happy to care for you labouring with a past C/S but most tertiary (larger) places are happy to care for you. It really depends on what your hospital policy is.

If your waters are broken often you will go into sponatenous labour within a day or so (not always but most of the time) but either way I would confirm if its your amniotic fluid as like mentioned early there is a risk of infection. Amniotic fluid often has an after sex smell or BO smell.

I think the others are right Blayne... If they do confirm it is amniotic fluid it doesn't necessarily mean they'll want to do a c-sect or progress things right away. Because it is clear they may be happy to let you go for a little while to see if you go into spontaneous labor. While it's a hassle to go into the hospital, it really isn't worth risking things at this stage. Why not start with giving them a call and telling them what you've told us, then take it from there. Good Luck xoxo
