Leaking fluid... then nothing.... should I do anything??
Hi Everyone,
I was wondering if a first-time mum-to-be could get some advice???
Yesterday afternoon I went to the loo (so bladder is empty) and then about five minutes afterwards I felt a decent leak into my underwear. I tried to stop it but no amount of pelvic floor squeezing would help. Anyway (sorry if this is TMI!) I had a look and it was clear and smelled sweet so I don't think it was urine.
I am currently 30 weeks so did a mini-panic because its too early for waters breaking. Once hubby and I calmed down we decided that we would just see what happened next. Its now been almost 24 hours and I have not noticed any more leaks. I have read that hindwater leaks can resolve themselves. Do you think I need to do anything at this stage or just see if more leaking occurs then contact doctor?
Hi Rachee
It sounds like it could have been a hind water leak. Providing that it was not a large amount of fluid and that it has now stopped there is nothing that you need to do. If you do start to leak again then it would be a good idea to call the hospital.
Hind water leaks usually do resolve themselves and your body and baby will produce more fluid to replace the amount that you have lost. I would be a good idea to take things easy and just rest for the next couple of days
Thankyou so much for your responses... it's great to get independent opinions from people in the know and is one of the reasons I think this site is so fantastic!!
I ended up calling by OB just to be on the safe side and I popped into the local hospital last night for a checkup. They did a few checks and tests and think it was a hind water leak as well. Bean seems happy bouncing around in there so they have told me not to worry but let them know if I have any concerns. The LGH staff were great and even though they were busy they did make time for little ole' me (just in case any Launceston BB members were wondering).
I will take your advice Alan and rest up for the next few days. Hubby spoiled me rotten last night so that was a definate positive out of the whole adventure
