Cool Lets talk about your aches & pains

    G'day everyone!!

Well it is getting closer and closer to my little ones due date. And I tell you what, I dont like waiting for things to happen!! Its like being in the two week wait again. Wouldn't it be great if our little ones stick to the due date they are given?!

Anyways... I was hoping to create a discussion of how YOU felt in the lead up to the birth, in regards to all these lovely aches and pains!! Isnt it funny how we wish all these sorts of pains on ourselves so we know that something is happening in there?! And then when we really ARE in pain, we wish it away!!

Also, I was hoping if someone could give me some insight if I am doing some pre-labouring or if my aches and pains are just nothing at all!! I can tell you, that I have only experienced, maybe ONE, braxton hick!! So I am hoping the aches and pains I am getting mean that this one is close.

So, for me I have been experiencing a very tender feeling really low down. It first came up yesterday after I came back from a walk with my dogs. I guess feeling tender in your pelvis is normal because there is a baby's head lodged in there! Also yesterday after my walk, my body started to ache, especially in my lower back. I've been for my walk today and I have got the same feeling. Except today my ache has gone right down my legs. Hmm what else?? Last night I had a very uncomfortable feeling while laying on my side in bed and I started to get some tummy cramps.

Well thats enough about me!! So what do you think? Pre-labouring or my body was doing some silly stuff??!! Did you experience anything like this?

Oh forgot to mention that Friday morning I woke up with a period type ache and I also had a teensy tiny bit blood through my cm. Nothing since then tho!

Hi Veronica, after reading your post it is amazing how quickly you forget the uncomfortable last month of pregnancy - or in my case 5 weeks as I went 5 days over!

It's hard to tell if you are pre-labouring or not as i found that everyone experiences different things and for some it is and for others the same symptoms are just a pain! The tiny bit of blood could have been your mucous plug? I didn't see mine but blood streaked mucous is often one description given.

The period pain could be things starting but having said that I got period pain on and off from about 38 weeks (wracking my brain here) and i didn't go into labout until 40+5 weeks. The aches and pains I can't help with as all I remember is being achey all over. Belly was tender everytime I moved, especially down low with all the ligaments stretching and my pelvis getting ready.

I hope for you that it is pre-labour but don't forget that that can also last for weeks. Good luck and I hope you meet your little girl sooner rather than later - love the name you've picked also, very pretty.

OK, well I'll tell you mine....

Period type pain - 1st pregnancy - only for a few days before labour. 2nd pregnancy - well, I've had it for weeks now.

Braxton Hicks - I swore last time that I never had any, but looking back, I'm sure I did,I just mustn't have recognised them. I'm sure you must be having them, you probably just can't feel it. This time though, I am really aware of them.

Many other aches & pains, but none that have anything to do with labour, just the pains of being pg!

I'm sure it won't be long now Veronica!!!

Rachel - not too sure if what I had the other day was my mucous plug as it was only a teeny tiny bit! I do hope that if this is pre-labouring, it doesnt go for too long!!

Linda - I guess its hard with the first pregnancy to know if you are having BH's or not as you dont know what you're looking for! I've been told that your whole tummy goes hard and well, my tummy seems to be hard all the time now!!

Well my ache in my back got pretty intense for a short while tonight but it seemed to have eased off a bit now.

Well I am just going to continue twiddling my thumbs and waiting!!

I know Veronica - and you are probably a bit like me - don't want to say that 'yep, that was a BH' unless you are sure.

I hope you got a good night's rest. I'm sure all the pains are doing something - let's hope when labour does start that some of the work is already done & it won't take too long.

V I've been getting some similar stuff to you.

My belly goes hard all the time!! but I can feel bits and pieces like feet.
Would you describe that tender feeling as also feeling really heavy?? I get a really heavy feeling when I've been walking for too long. Just doing the groceries the other day I got the heavy feeling and a really uncomfortable lower back.

I also get some tightenings in my lower abdomen, but they are just annoying more than anything, I would suspect they might be BH's,

One thing I do get however is the pain in the tops of my thighs. Sometimes it's just a tingling and sometimes you have an evil child that pushes on the sciatic nerve. I have the latter, and it sops me in my track. Nathan can be in the next room, and ask me what's wrong, 'cause I let out some noises and start swearing.

ON the whole, I don't think this bubs is actually going to come out sooner than the due date. I think we have at least the 12 days my ticker says

I am 35+3 wks (same as you Linda!) but I'm being induced at 37 so technically this is my 'two week wait'. I cant really comment on your pains Ngala as it hurts me to walk anywhere really!

Carrying around an extra 20kg on my pre-pregnancy 50kg body is just plain tough! This is also my first baby but it sounds to me like your body is gearing up for the grand finale... Was your back achy like period pain achy or just tired nedd to rest achy?

I cannot really say whether I have felt one braxton hicks cx either. Funny, it kind of makes you feel that you will go into labour but nothing will happen! The only thing I get is period type pain once or twice a day for a moment or two. I asked my Mid in newcastle about this and she said this was my cervix though?

All the best Ngala, either way its not long to go!!

Rebecca - yeh the tender feeling is like a really heavy feeling. It only really starts to hurt when I go out for a walk or am on my legs for too long. I get the pain at the tops of my thighs too! Funny thing is, I got it before I was pg too and then it slowly started to ease off to nothing.

August moon mum - oh I hear you on the carrying around an extra 20kg!! It is hard work isnt it!! Not too sure if my achy back is like period pain as I never really experienced any period pain with my period! All the cramps and aches are all new to me.

Well I do feel like a new person today!! No aches or cramps or anything like that. I really do feel the best when I get out of bed and then as the day goes on my body tends to change its mind

    Only 9 days to go!

    Hi Veronica
I have also had the heavy feeling down in my pelvis after doing a bit of walking, and the period type cramps in my front and back, but like you I have no idea whether its pre-labour or not.
As for the Braxton hicks the only way I can tell that I am having one is because I feel my heartrate increase before my tummy goes hard.
Its exciting and confusing at the same time, everytime I feel something happening I think 'Is this the real deal or not?'.
Anyway not to long for us now...
