I'm 34 weeks today and I was told by my midwives to be weighing myself every week, I've had a fairly steady weight gain since week 16 and have gained around 15kg but this week I lost a small amount.
Is this normal? I've heard that pregnant ladies can lose weight in the last few weeks but I thought that was really near the end?
Don't know why this is bothering me so much, I thought I'd still be gaining.
I did also take my tummy measurement and this has gone up 2cm.
Hi Sue, at my last Ob appt 2 weeks ago I had lost 1.5kg. I am watching what I eat, and have been for the last 8 weeks or so after putting on 12kg from the start of my pregnancy (I'm a little heavier anyways), but not actively trying to lose weight iykwim. My Ob seemed fine with it and said I may even end up losing a little more before bub arrives. I weigh myself regularly and at one stage over the last two weeks had dropped another 700g, but just this morning back up again. I seem to fluctuate between a 2kg margin. I am still walking the dog everyday and working, so maybe being active is counteracting the weight bub is gaining in these last few weeks for me?
Not sure if I really helped you or not but just wanted to let you know I've been going through the same thing
Thanks HB, that does help.
I've been looking at my weight gain over the whole time and the majority has been between week 16 and week 32. It has slowed significantly this past couple of weeks and I've been eating like a horse! I'm sooooo hungry all the time just now!
I see my midwife on thursday so will ask her about this. I'm just being a worry wart!!
Hi Sue, I am pretty sure its fairly normal for some ladies to have some weight loss. I remember everytime my DH and I would go to the OBs we would try and guess before hand how much weight I had put on since the last time. One time I had lost weight and it was probably around the 34 week mark but could have been a bit more, I was a little concerned so I asked about that and they said that it was fine and normal. The next time i went I have put on weight again. They checked the belly measurements and they were fine also.
If you are worried just mention it to your carer but I am sure its ok.

hey
Ive gone from an initial gain at 20 weeks of 15kgs!!!!! to now being full term and 9.5kg total gain.
I teach group Fitness and did start to 'be careful' with what I ate once I had gained that initial weight through overeating to help MS.
Bubs has been growing and measurements all good so I was told this was ok, i actually lost a Kilo last week, which I was also told could be a sign the body is getting ready to birth.
At 23 weeks I had put on 7 kg - now (due 2morrow) - I have only put on 4.5kg during the entire pregnancy. I watched what I ate very carefully due to gestational diabetes. The OB has not been concerned at all (as I am not super skinny!!!)
