I will start off in saying that I am 35 weeks today.
Last night I made a mild thai chicken curry for dinner which I think may have been a mistake.
At around 8pm I started getting braxton hicks/tightenings (slightly painful/uncomfortable) which ended up lasting 3hrs! After being in bed for 1.5hrs I thought I would time them and they were coming every 5-8min at that stage. At 11:30pm I had one but then the next wasn't untill 15min later, so I finally fell asleep.
Today I have been having them quite frequently too but not regular.
So my question is, do you think this is just my body practising? Or do you think I have irritated my uterus with the curry (it was only mild)?
I was in hospital 2-3 weeks ago with contractions that were caused from a gastro bug, and some of the tightenings feel the same now as they did then.
Sounds like pre-labour to me, I had these from 33wks but definately if they are coming more frequently and are painful I would definately ring your local hospital as mine turned out to be actual labour which was stopped with tablets and an injection. Braxton hicks are not supposed to be painful. Hope this is some help to you.
Hey Nadine! Wow!!!! Ur pregnancy has gone SUPER fast!! how exciting!!!!!!
It sounds to me like your body knows exactly what it's doing and you aren't far away now... i had heaps of tightenings and BH's in those last 3-4wks which i believe was my body in like a pre-labour state. I think i was already dilated a few cm's before going into labour that night and all those pains had helped. But if it doesnt feel right perhaps see ur MW?
I'm really excited for you and look forward to ur BA!!!
I had very regular tightenings from about 33 - 35 weeks. In the end they were coming so frequently (about every 10 mins) that I began to not even feel them - I could just feel the tightening externally.
You would think being my 2nd I would know all about it, but I never had this with DD so it's all new to me. I guess because I was in hospital not long ago I am a tad more cautious too.
