A girl at work had this and was told it was just a nerve that was probably being pressed on in her lower back I think. It did go after a while. Sorry not much help.
It's most probably her siatic(sp) nerve been pressed. I had this and the numbness didn't go until I'd lost most of my weight after having Cody. She should let her doctor know at her next appt.
Yep I had the numbness in the leg with this pregnancy. I found that when I would lay on the left leg (coz that was the one to go numb) that I would awake to find it numb. So I tried laying on the right side. Only to have my groin ache like buggery. Mine got bad that I had to lay practically sitting up as the pain in the groin would hurt so much I could hardly lift my leg to get out of bed. I had what I believe was Pelvic Pain. Tell your sis inlaw to mention it to her OB or at her next check up. Just to be safe. It could be something a lot less simple than what I have.
Hi jacqui,
If your sil just has numbness then it is probibly what the other girls have sugessted however if her leg is painful, cold ,and or has a blueish color to it ,it could be a bloodclot, my sister had one during her first preg and it was passed of as a pinched nerve at first and when it was finally diagnosed properly it went from her hip to her knee in lenght.
I dont want to scare anyone but it is very serious if she does have one, it maybe worth asking her doc if shr is concerned.
I have this, if it is the front of the leg it isn't the sciatic (sp?) it is a nerve that runs off it. I didn't rest and kept running around, in the end I couldn't walk and had to stay on the bed for a week as it was very painfull.
Get her to rest up and check it out with the Dr, as I was warned if I didn't take it easy I would be stuck with the pain for the rest of my pregnancy ( I was only 20 weeks then!)
My leg is still numb but manageable, I am swimming again and moving around more. I have noticed that sitting in chairs that you have to sit up straight in with your leg at a 90 degree angle makes it worse, so I try and stretch my legs a bit or get up and move around.
