I am 34 weeks and since yesterday my entire legs have been aching and the cramping is getting really bad. I got cramps at night with my first and I know its common but this is crap.
I have tried laying down and putting them up with absolutely no succes and ended up taking 3 panadol just so I could sleep. Nothing I do is getting rid of it, I have tried warm baths, my partner massaging them and nothing.
I dont know if it is related to my sacrolliac joint dysfunction and I cant find out until Tuesday if it is. But I was just wondering if anyone else have suffered the same thing and what was causing it.
I also get alot of cramps... one has been so bad lately in my calf muscle that i'm going for an ultrasound on wednesday to check for dvt.... nothing really helps it except constant massage with a deep heat kind of rub.
I get the same thing but its only in one of my legs (i'm just wierd that way!!!). I read somewhere that cramping can be caused by a calcium or potasium deficiency so drinking milk and eating bananas can help.
It hasn't made the cramps go away for me but it has helped a little.
I didn't actually use deep heat, i used something similar that mum mum has. she is right into all the natural stuff rather than chemist bought (for the name of the company feel free to pm me).... it works similar so that was the easiest way to describe it
Still got it. Just trying to relax and not do much, bit hard with a sick 19mth old.
Hehe I doubt I am low in calcium and potassium because I already eat about two banana's a day and we go through a 3ltr bottle of milk, I drink it like water.
But I might try the magnesium. I have a ob and physio/hydro appt on Tuesday so I will be definetly asking about it then if it is still happening.
Studymum I got achy and restless legs a lot and the only thing I found that helped was to get up and physically stomp around the house for a few minutes to get the blood flowing. That plus some calf stretches - so stand facing towards a wall, put your hands on the wall and take one leg back with your heel to the floor so you get a nice stretch. Then swap legs. Worked a treat for me to get them to settle down enough so I could finally nod off to sleep!
Oooh cramps and restless legs really suck... had a bad time with that a few weeks ago, so my sympathies all around.
For me personally taking a couple of calcium tablets before bed, as well as using the MagPhos tissue salts, has really helped.
I hope you all find things that work for you - ginger did nothing for my morning sickness, so I understand how frustrating it can be when the "standard" cures don't work for you!
