Question Outing - 6 days before EDD???

DH and I want to see a musical together but it will be only 6 days before my EDD. Do you think this is too close to be out and about? Would you personally do this?

It is my first baby so I really don't know how I will be feeling and if I will be brave enough to go out just 6 days before EDD knowing that I could go into labour at any moment (provided of course that is hasn't happened before then...eek!)

It would be about a 35 min drive to the hospital which is an extra 10 mins or so than driving to the hospital from our home.

Let me know your opinion if you have one!

    Thanks

I'd go (or at least plan on going because you never know whats going to happen). I was going out doing stuff right up until the day before I gave birth and went on a big shopping expedition the day before I went inot labour. I was planning on going to a friends wedding a week or so before Claires due date, but I didnt go as I was in labour and giving birth that day. Just leave a bag in the car if you are worried, just in case! I'm sure they'll understand if you need to leave early or decide on the day you dont feel up to it.

I'd go - we had a labour bag in the car for five weeks, just in case! Didn't stop us going out - including for a walk that meant we were about an hour away from the car in the middle of a field at one point! I did have to call one thing off, but that was because of sciatica and I couldn't walk, let alone boogie all night.

If you go into labour in the middle of the musical or your waters break you may well get free tickets or a mention in the paper, so that could be fun!

I went out for coffe DURING labour!!
I was over due but still went out everyday. I spent the whole day out shopping and having lunch with friends the day I went into labour, and went out for coffee with a girlfriend the next day when I was still in labour.
I would have gone nutty staying at home

Yep, I agree, I'd go!! Put your bag in the car and have a great day!

I also went over by 10 days, my due date was Christmas day so I was definately out and about around the time I was 'supposed' to be in labour.

You'll go crazy if you sit around at home waiting for it to happen. And if it only adds 10 mins to your trip to the hospital, that's nothing in the scheme of things.

Do it! do it! do it!

I went to a Paul Kelly concert 3 days before I was due. My DD loved it. We were timing 'contractions' during the show but they stopped later in the evening. I think she was just dancing! On her due date, we went to Crown. It had only been open a month or so, and they were freaking out cause I was so big and thought I was going to go into labour there and then!

Definitely do it!! Do everything you can now LOL!

I have my DS & DD's sports day on the 7th august, which is 11 days before my due date. I don't think I will participate in the parent games, but will definitely have a WHALE of a time LOL!!

I would go for sure! Hope this doesn't scare you.. but I was at a housewarming a few weeks ago and there was a girl there who was 38 weeks and having back pain. Turned out she was in early labour and had her bub 2 days later!! She still had a great time and didn't even know she was in early labour!! I would make the most of any chance you can get to go and do what you want.... won't be long till we have our beautiful little bubs here and we will be having a bit of downtime I dare say!!
