Hi guys,
Ive had this a few times now and it seems to be getting worse as my preg goes on.
If i dont eat for a while i get really shaky then if i let it go longer i get really sweaty and have passed out a couple of times at the shopping centre. Ive asked my doc and the midwives and they have both told me that its normal and can be just from standing for too long.... Which dosnt make sense to me that i would feel better after eating???
My blood pressure is normal when they check it but i have a history of low bp.
My diabetes tests were borderline but i just scraped in with the second one so they decided i was fine....
Does anyone else feel this way if they dont eat for a while?
ALL THE TIME!! I used to get this before pregnancy but it's worse now. I always wondered if it was low blood sugar perhaps?? NFI. My mum gets it too...
I had the opposie. When I was pregnant I had to force myself to eat as I had severe reflux.
My husband, MIl and Mum had to make sure I ate when they were around.
My husband even had my friends watching me when he wasnt around just to make sure that I was eating.
Being pregnant is the best diet I have ever been on.
Yolly, yes it's perfectly possible to faint due to low blood sugar, pregnant or not.
It's a good idea to base your diet around low-GI carbohydrates, make sure you're eating a couple of serves of slow-burning carb and a bit of protein at each meal and don't neglect to have snacks (and drinks) in between. It could be you're just not eating enough!
Keep some snacks handy in your bag at all times so if you feel a little light headed then have a quick snack. I have some high protein low GI museli bars in my purse at all times!!!
It definitely sounds like low blood sugar to me...
I got this in my last pg - and the feeling is awful isn't it... luckily I never got to the point of fainting though.
I have had it once so far with this pg, and it hit me really hard and quickly, and took me a couple of hours to recover...
It can happen to anyone, whether pg or not, or whether a diabetic or not.
Make sure you eat small meals frequently, and always carry a spare snack or two with you (maybe something like dried fruit?) in case you aren't able to eat for a while.
